Nitrous

Can someone explain what this is? How does it work? How much more HP do you get? I see some say the use 100, 150, 300, what is that? What does the purge do before taking off from the line?

Just did a search and found out what I needed to know. Sorry about this entry. My first response when reading through the various comments is to ask a question here and not to get out and do a search. I guess that is bad.

Read this: http://www.nitrousdirect.com/nitrousoxide.html

But purging the system makes sure there is no interruption in the flow of N20 to the engine. That way you have a purged system ready to work. That is the only thing not covered in that link.

Very good article. Thanks for sending it. I do not think I will go this route but I see it a lot on the car channels and am very interested in how it works.

What do they mean when they say they use 100, 150... when using Nitrous? I would guess that is either the amount of Nitrous.

I think that refers to the "100 shot" or "150 shot" which is supposed to relate to how much more HP the nitrous kit gives.

Don't see the point to nitrous on our cars since so much power can be made safely with meth and or E85.

There are different jets you can use for N20. People generally use 75-200 HP shot of N20 but it can go higher than that. If anyone was to use N20 on the 1er, like a DD, then a 75-150 shot would be what they would use. But like Tee-Dub said you can make more power by mixing about 4 gallons E85 with the highest octane fuel you can get at the gas station and getting a Meth kit.

There is also dry and wet shots of N20. Dry is sprayed in front of the intake manifold, usually in the intake piping or generally before the MAF and 75 is about the most you want to do with that since people say it's the most "dangerous". Wet is sprayed into the engine while mixing the N20 and fuel and its limited to how well your engine is built and is considered the safest.

Great information, thanks a lot guys. I watch TV shows, I think called Pass and the other Pinks and sometimes they talk about using Nitrous so I was wondering what this does for the car.

What does the E85 and/or the Meth Kit do?

Gives the car a lot more power and safer too. Just look around the forums and you'll see the power gains from doing them.
