Hit raised manhole. Stuff to watchout or look for?
Like the title says....
Hit an unmarked raised manhole. Just wondering what I should look out for if there are or were going to be problems. I hit it hard enough to ding the lip of the rim a bit but luckily it isnt bad and the tire never blew. And since its happened i feel that maybe it threw the balance of the tire off? I feel some vibrations at higher speeds... So yeah if some ppl could give some input that would be awesome and I appreciate it. Ill try n post a photo of the ding later but like i said its nothing bad at all but it is there... |

you could have transferred enough impact to affect the rim itself which may no longer be round(especially if you on runflats) , if you drive really slowly on a really smooth surface you should feel it through the steering wheel if its not round.
otherwise you may just have knocked the alignment out, simple as getting it realigned..

If you have a vibration, you either bent the rim, tire or both. Tires have steel belts and can be "bent" out of shape. Will show up in a roadforce test.
A vibration will only be caused by something spinning that is out of balance. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 07-18-2013 at 11:52 AM.. |
