Tire/Wheel Packages
Thinking of getting the BMW Tire/Wheel package insurance. I normally do not go for extended or special packages like this, but (1) Because the car does not have a spare, and (2) with the cost of 19 inch wheels and tires I am considering it. The BMW package for 5 years runs around $1300. I know this was discussed before, but what is the consensus?

Its not just the roads, but stuff that finds its way on the roads you have to worry about. My son was driving his car a while back in traffic in the interstate - cars on both sides - and only running about 50 mph. The pickup in front of him swerved slightly to reveal 2 cinder blocks. No where to go - so it damaged 2 rims and 2 tires (along with a lower control arm). Granted I can use my insurance - but with a $500 deductable (which I don't think would also cover tires), it would not take long over 5 years to pay for itself.

We went for it at $1295 for 5 years unlimited mileage
I'm the nail magnet so we thought it was worth the price, if we replace 2 tires it will have paid for the warranty. |

very true.. good point.. as hitting the curb cuts entering a drivewy have a tendencay to squeeze the side wall and cut down a tire.
2 tires and or a wheel repair will probably cover your expense... Id do it..

Is this something offered by the dealer? I don't see this on the BMWUSA web site. Is the price often negotiable?
Is this different from the BMW Maintenance Program Upgrade for $3,295? |

I bought it for mine, and I usually don't buy optional insurances.
It seemed like a good idea ... with that little rubber and that much expensive wheel rims ... one nail ... one board ... goodbye tire(s) and wheel(s). Quote:
