then there is only 1 way

getting the unit fabricated by copying from another control unit

what do you think?

I don't need one per say, but I'm all for this. I have a working unit that I can possibly send out to get copied as the only way to get a new one is to buy the whole damn kit.

bmw manufactured this steering wheel till 2011, and how come they discontinued the part on 2012?

I escalated the issue to local dealers management, and guess what?

they confirmed that V2 control unit and harness will be ok for V1

now I will order the new parts (around 450 usd!) and will see what it turns out to be

if they dont match, then I will be a big issue for the dealer

by the way, I made a research for the fabrication

Engineering time will cost much more than new complete steering wheel as they say...

- 61 13 8 364 646 - Covering cap, 12 pol. connector (Tyco 1-967415-1) (to PSW Control Unit)
- 61 35 0 444 602 - Control Unit, Performance Steering Wheel (PSW) (P-Lenkrad) ($139.45) (61 35 2 212 797 for V2)
- 61 13 8 373 575 - Connector, 2 pol. male (pin), (AMP 1-968654-1) (A5 on BMW installation diagram)

I home made the wire harness, and bought the control unit of V2 for my V1

it worked fine except the rev counter

it reads 10 times less than actual

Thanks for that. So there is a Performance steering wheel for sale locally but the seller says it does not come with the control module. How do I know if I need V1 or V2? And where would I be able to find one?

if the PSW is V2 then you need V2 control unit (61 35 2 212 797)

if the PSW is V1, then walk away
