Premium package + M-Sport package = no heated steering wheel?
Here's an odd one...in so much as my car has all packages excluding NAV.
The Premium package ($3,800 CAN) includes Boston Leather ($2,000 on its own), glass sunroof ($1,500 on its own), heated steering wheel ($250 on its own), and BMW Assist ($1,100 on its own). The M-Sport package ($1,600 CAN) includes 18" M Double Spoke Alloy Wheels, Performance Run-Flat Tires, Sport Seats, M Sport Steering Wheel and Shift Lever, Anthracite Roof Liner, and High Gloss Shadow Line. Given that the M-Sport package changes the steering wheel, my car does not have the heated steering wheel. The dealer postulates (this is their guess) that perhaps the M-Sport steering wheel negates the ability to have a heated steering wheel. Here's the rub...in that no where on www.bmw.ca website in the Build Your Own area does it notify you that the one option package precludes this feature from the other option package (for that matter, you're also able to order the heated steering wheel as a stand-alone with the M-Sport package selected), nor does any of the (admittedly 2008) brochure information online state this. Does anybody have a 135i with the above noted packages including the heated steering wheel...or just even the M-Sport package with the stand-alone option of the heated steering wheel? I'm certainly more than miffed at this little wrinkle. TIA

There you go...BMW USA's site shows this, whereas BMW Canada's site does not give you that information. Grrrr

Thanks for the "smart" answer...but my point is that this is, according to BMW Canada, the way my car is to be outfitted. -35C on a cold steering wheel is less than appealing when its supposed to have a heated surface and it actually doesn't.

M steering wheel > heated non-M steering wheel
The bitter cold will numb your pain from a non-heated wheel, but the pain of driving with the regular wheel will stick with you all year round. |

Is this M steering wheel the same that comes with the standard sport package or is it the one with blue and red stitching? Being that they have two sport packages I wonder if there are two different steering wheels?

Neither. It is smaller and thicker and feels and looks way better than the standard sport wheel but it doesn't feature that wonderful stitching. In order of awesomeness it goes:
non sport wheel 3 series sport wheel / 1 series non sport wheel (they are the same) 1 Series M package / sports package wheel (they are also the same) M3 wheel
