Agreed! It's like a different engine when it's in Sport mode. I can't imagine what it's like with a chip.... Can't wait til I get one

Might be for you, but having owned tep and DCTs, I can assure you they are VERY different trannies. The DCT is miles ahead of the Step.

Lol I deeply apologize people. I'm not very technically savvy in terms of engine and transmission (I feel like I'm the only one). Fundamentally, I figured in both situations, we're switching gears without an actual clutch to push down. Correct me if I'm wrong here, fundamentally. This is extremely random in relation to why I made this thread, but

Oh please relax they're far from "dumbo ears", now the Lexus IS has what are true dumbo ears. Seems like you're commenting on something you have yet to see.

I'm talking about the side mirrors that look like the ones on the 328i. They have no place on a 135i, looks goofy. (If indeed, they are on the 35's)

The mirrors on the 2010+ cars *LOOK* very flat and vertical in pictures but in the flesh are nothing offensive. I have had them for almost 3 years and never gave them a second thought. I use my mirrors quite extensively so I welcome the extra real estate.

I cant believe that some are making an issue about the slightly larger mirrors. Sounds like whiney little sissies to me.
News flash. Not only do you not understand the difference between the DCT and the Steptronic you also dont know that the 135i is not a sports car. |

Where are you getting this from? At what point did I claim to understand the difference? If I remember correctly, I clearly stated that I'm not technically savvy with the engine/transmission. I thought in both scenarios, we are able to shift when we please. I don't know much about the DCT. I know what I don't know. Thanks for the news flash though. |

I walk out every morning and see the original mirrors and the new ones side-by-side. And guess what? I prefer the mirrors on my 2008 in both looks and functionality. The current "dumbo ear" mirrors are the same size as the mirrors on my mountaineers - a 5K pound truck. That really doesnt seem a bit excessive to you? Nothing wrong with liking one aesthetic over another. It hardly makes one into the person that youre claiming them to be. |

Mirror is a little bigger and looks like 'dumbo'! I expect that kind of rationale from children. You might like the looks of the earlier mirrors better but functionality, really? They increased the size to get better functionality. And side by side with my C6 Corvette, they're about the same size actually but haven't got out the ruler. At least I dont have a "sissy" drop top. They let my 'dumbo' eared 1 on racetracks everywhere, Verts, not to many. But they are dandy for being in parades. |

And functionally yes I do think the 08 mirrors are better. The 10 mirrors are large and difficult to see over. I have issues seeing things that are next to my quarter panel becaus I can't see past the mirrors. I don't have that issue with my vert |

Also I put the damned phrase in quotes. Is reading comprehension dead in this world? Saying you have big ears is not the same as your entire car is inferior because girls drive it. And at least I have actual issues with the mirrors besides their look. And they were just about the last thing on my mind when I picked up my ActiveE. Get over yourself man. Seriously. Why does everybody try to start this crap with me? Last edited by BrokenVert; 07-30-2012 at 04:31 PM.. |
