bmw alarm service

Im going in for service on the 1st. My car needs a software update. I installed the alarm at the beginning of the year and never had it programed. Should I tell them to program the alarm or will the software update also flash the alarm?

I don't think the software update will do anything to the alarm, I believe the alarm module has to be coded to the car in order for it to work.

Yes, I have the same impression. So you installed alarm and never used it? Terrific.

BTW, why do you think you need software update? I own a car for 2 years, and never did any, the car runs great.

Just got my car back today and the programming took almost three hours to complete the task. WTH unlike the E90 which did not need any program to activate the alarm.

The alarm works just isn't programed to beep on lock or unlock.
