No Underhood Light? No Problem. LED Underhood Light DIY
Hey Guys, one thing I've noticed about this car since owning it, It lacks an underhood light. When people ask to see the car at night, on cruise nights etc, and I pop the hood, I got tired of digging out the flashlight, so I decided to order a LED Light strip from Superbrightleds.com to put under my hood and wire up. It is also convenient in case you need to work on your car and it's dark outside. Tonight I installed it. Here's some pics. It's their 5000k 100cm/39.3 inch long strip. I also ordered some wire and connectors and switch from their site. I am still not happy with where the I placed the switch. I may rewire it soon, maybe move the switch down by the front strut where they wire into their power source. Anyways here are the pics.

Haha thanks, I love freaking LED lights, and I figured I'll be running water meth sometime very soon, and if i need to swap meth nozzles one day soon on the side of the road or in a parking lot, or want to take off cover to get to USB cable tucked in engine bay and datalog, I can! LOL

Looks good, but I'd have some concerns - will the strip stand up to the heat of the engine? What about the adhesive you used? If that comes loose in the engine compartment, I'm assuming it could cause some problems.

Well I've had this on my car, just not wired up for about 2 months, and it's held up so far, and I also put one of these on my 2006 Dodge 2500 Cummins pickup, it's been on there a about 8 months and is still stuck up there nicely, they come with some double sided 3m adhesive already attached to them, so you just peel off the backing and stick it up. I'd think if it came loose, I believe it might be far back enough that it would fall on the top of the shroud back by the cabin air filter, but I don't think it is going anywhere, it's on there pretty good unless i needed to take it off, in which case you just grab a corner and pull.
