Proud new 135i owner, few Qs...
Hey all,
I'm the proud new owner of a BSM 2008 135i, brilliant car! A quick question- was looking to possibly do a simple angel eyes mod, would prefer a decent whitish/LED type light to the stock yellow globes which I don't think fit in that well with the xenons. A quick search yielded a few: http://www.e92-lighting.com/products...ITE-43-16.html http://www.namotorsports.net/detail..../MDSLUX1SERIES Any thoughts or experiences with the above products? Obviously a big difference in price! Another quick question, I have the 2009 newer version Pro Idrive system, have been playing MP3 files off USB/hard drive. When playing a song, the album and artist name sit at the top of the screen, with the song title/mp3 file name in the lower list. However, the title/file name is truncated to fit the column eg. Like a G6 (feat Be...*cut off*), and it doesn't scroll across to show the rest of the title or file name. A bit annoying. Anyone know if there's a setting for this? Or is it just a silly limitation in the system? Thanks! |

Hiya Bimou,
Congrates and welcome into the beautiful twin turbo world. In regards to your question...I would stir clear of E92lighting they are shonky to say the least and products are of the same nature. Also if you do come across JLeviSW also do the same as customer service does not exist and their products will be faulty. The other company you mention namotor, I have never heard of but as you live in Melbourne you really should contact Andrew @ SouthernBM and he can fit a nice pair of Angel Eyes for around $100. I've had them in for around a year now and they match the Xenon's perfectly. Plus there is the added benefit of entering the world which is SouthernBM. Good luck and enjoy, hope I helped. Welcome to the forums mate! Some people like the GPs, but I'm not that convinced. Hopefully Jeef Beef will chime in as he recently installed them on his car. They're not bad in low-light conditions but in bright sunlight they are hardly visible. If you have the dosh, then go LED. There are HEAPS of threads out there about AEs so take your time to go through them and don't just rush into something too quickly.

Congratulations mate. Great choice. You will love it.
A note of caution; be careful opening the bonnet when the wipers are up - you'll crack the windscreen. |

for the LUX from NA Motorsports. They are visible in daylight but less so than the OEM bulbs of course. Mine also survived a seriously smashed in headlight after hitting a roo. I believe the price though has recently increased slightly.

Appreciate the warm welcome! Obviously this is a pretty friendly community...
As SBC said above, there are TONS of threads about angel eyes out there. I think the main two options I outlined are the way to go- with GP thunder 7500k (widely available ~$20-25) being the halogen globe which does the job. In terms of LEDs, it does seem LUX is regarded as the best LED solution (alot more $ though). One thing, which QSH17Z could possibly answer, is the difficulty of installation of LUX with its external fuse/wires? As per here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=358893 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446393 I'm looking to preferably do this myself. I also found these LEDs, anyone know anything about them/experiences? http://www.e92-lighting.com/products...TT-400-20.html Southern BM appears to sell the GP thunder halogens, so I may as well just get them cheap overseas and do it myself. In terms of Procede, at the moment the stock car feels like PLENTY of power, so will resist that urge for the moment, at least until warranty ends... In regards to my own iDrive related question, it does indeed seem that there's no way to make the song title/filename scroll across, it's limited to however many characters it displays in the screen line. Pretty stupid limitation I think in a $5000 computer system. My JVC CD/MP3 head unit I bought in 2001 even does that. |

The installation of the LUX bulbs wasn't the easiest but purely because access is so limited. I've noticed that the 135i appears to have more room directly behind the headlights than the 125i so it should be easier. Re the external power supply/wires etc I just ran the wires outside the dust cover on the back of the headlights and shielded it with some dodgy plastic tubing I had lying around.
