crzy, cuz i know you guys did that for me thanks a lot!

btw, plien, you have a REALLY good announcer voice. I think I have heard you on a couple books-on-tape!

1 question, if your playing music, and you close the display, does the sound cut off?

it sounds like you're popping popcorn in the first video.

when the pops are two seconds apart, you want to take it out of the microwave, it'll burn.

No, there is no loss of functionality. Music continues to play, nav guidance continues to announce, etc.

In fact, you can choose which events will cause the display to open again, and I believe a new navigation instruction is one of them.

Hehe.. When I played the video for the first time she looked over and said it sounded like something was wrong with my engine!

That's what I thought. I thought the car was just running really bad until it got further into the song and I could tell it was music.

I mapped one of the programmable keys on the steering wheel to open/close the display. I find the LCD glow a bit distracting at night.

I'm sure you already know but you can adjust the brightness of the display. I will program a button because there are times when it would be nice to have it closed. Which button did you use?

My Diamond button brings up the phone list.

My Star button Opens/Closes the iDrive display.

Most of the other programming options for the soft steering wheel buttons had other, single-action options already (mute? just push the volume button. Air recirculation? Just hit the re-circ button on the HVAC. Next entertainment source? Mode button.)

I wishi I could say extensive thought went into it, but it was more like trial and error.

I originally had Next Entertainment Source as one of the steering buttons. Until I realized I already had such a button on the dash.
