1500ks on the clock, Blue Mountains weekend
Hi Everyone, so i took my 125i up to the Blue Mountains for the weekend. Impressions... firstly OUCH! Elevation is not a friend to an NA engine, power seemed to be down considerably, has anyone else experienced this?
Handling, the car is so good once the tyres are warmed up, though there were some rougher bits of road and i did notice it can jump around a little when pushed. Other than that, not much to say i guess, with my last sports coupe i used to drive much harder, however there's something about the bmw which makes it enjoyable even to cruise without working the engine to much. average fuel consumption after the trip is 10.3l, am not getting great mileage, seems that nice torque which i'm finding it hard not to use on takeoff is costing me Love the sound of the exhaust with the windows down.

Wow didn't think that the engine would be affected much by the altitude of the Blue Mountains as it is only 1200 - 1300 metres above sea level from memory.

I've been driven through regularly for the last 5 years on the way to Bathurst and have never had an issue in a NA car.

Could it be a bad batch of fuel perhaps?

It is odd...have family at Blackheath and been going there for years in mid winter in my 330Ci with no problems either..
You sure it wasnt you who was having altitiude difficulties, resulting in less pressure being applied to the gas pedal... |

I've just returned from a three-day driving weekend in the 135i: Windsor, Putty Road, Bylong Valley Way, Rylstone, Mudgee, Sofala, Bathurst, Oberon, Taralga, Goulburn, Braidwood, Clyde Mountain, Batemans Bay, Nowra, and home after a visit to a friend at Westmead (1400km). Back in early May, I did another three day weekend to Tumut via the Snowies (1300km). That's 2700km done in six days compared with a total of 8500km in my 8 months of ownership! Didn't notice any lack of power at elevation on either drive.

Could be right, just didn't seem to be reving as quickly as normal.
Loving the car, another longer trip this weekend, looking forward to getting the CF boot lid spoiler on, should look hot.
