3rd nail... what tyres to change to?
well its my 3rd nail in a year, this time in the passenger side front tyre...
this is really starting to give me the $#!Ts... what are the chances of getting 3 nails in one year... im suspecting someone is planting them... anyway, i guess i got to deal with the problem of the tyres it self, i'm getting sick of replacing 600-700$ runflats every time something goes wrong. so i was wondering what non runflats have you guys changed over to? |

Hey Jksgoh! I was so happy to read your post... which sounds pretty nasty I know.... but it's nice to know I'm not the only person who has had three nails in under a year. Expensive past time changing runflats.

strange thing is, i've been up in ballarat since last july and i only get the friggin nails when im down in melb! did you just end up replacing each one? was originally trying to clean my car today (rainwater and highpressure hose), but that all went down the crapper when i found a few key connections broken, and then i saw the nail in my tyre which topped it off my day. so now i've got a filthy car and a buggered tyre... not too sure if i can plug this one, its quite close to the side wall (about 1-2cm) but does anybody know the cut off??? might try and take the nail out and hope its a short little tack or something.... |

I've run Dunlop Sportmaxx which were totally fine, but now gone to Toyo T1R's as they are stickier. Will let you know how they are at EC on Wednesday..

cheers thanks breville.
wasn't too sure if it was better to leave the nail in or take it out... bit the bullet and just took it out. showed it to a tyre store and they said to just wait till the pressure warning comes on then worry about changing the tyres. i managed to find the nail which hit one of my rear tyres, that one seems to have just made it all the way through the tyre, although i think on a slight angle. as you can see in the photos the new nail is a bit shorter and thus may not have pierced all the way through (im assuming that the thickness of the tyres between the fronts and the rears would be the same???), so i think i'll take my chances for a few days and see if the pressure changes.... |
