It is alway nice to get what you pay for....

It's in the manual too!

According to the manual, available here , pages 138-141, the radio in iDrive equipped vehicles does indeed have the autostore feature, can display data from RDS stations, and can tune the weather band.

"WB" is "Weather Band" - across the USA, there are radio stations that give weather reports and forecasts. They broadcast on a special set of frequencies that require a special receiver. The E36 has it and it's great.

Autostore is a function that scans the airwaves and stores the most powerful stations in a special set of pre-sets.

everyone knows the strongest signals it always picks are 3 spanish stations, one christian station, one talk station and one easy listening

it's never found anything good for me on any of my cars

I also don't have WB or RDS, just picked mine up Thursday. Everything else seems to be fine. I work in Radio so I KNOW RDS is transmitting on my stations at least, no way they can tell me the signal isn't strong enough, etc. I'll call 'em out on that fib. hehe

I have not tried autostore but I do see the feature available.

Long time reader - first time submitting.

Took delivery of my 330i yesterday evening and everything is fine with the car except of course what is the main topic of this thread. I sent an email to BMWNA today to see what they cough up for an excuse. I really hope we get RDS at a minimum with what I have read in several other forums as an upcoming "software upgrade" due in September.

It would be VERY useful obtaining the Weather Band radio function too! Heck, we are about to get smacked here in Virginia with 3"-6" of rain from remains of the Tropical Storm that hit Louisiana - and there are severe storm warnings/flood watches being issued several times a day now by NOAA. Would be nice to hear those in the car - my manual says I have these features

I will advise if I get any new information.

I just got a call back from my dealer; I contacted him regarding the topic of this thread. After placing a call to BMW, he received a memo from them saying RDS is not available on E90s with iDrive but is available on E90s with standard radios. [makes no sense to me - give it to the stock radios but take it away from the peeps who pay for the extra features?!]

Also the memo said Weather Band is not available for E90s at all (at least in NA). They said they have no information on when or if this will be available for the E90 in the future.

Oh well... I guess if they do decide to release these features it will be a simple software update.

I am happy with the rest of the car, so I guess I can't really complain too much - I would just like to see the RDS working.
