You will have lots of different replies for this question Mine, not necessarily the best or most efficient but at least for me most consistent or easy way of a good launch with the 1M is:
Totally dry, good tarmac, PSS tires (or any street tire which is grippier than the stock PS2): MDM on, keep the rpms around 2000-2500 and go, change first to second around 6000, second to third around 6500. Not something I thought about too much, just found myself easy and having fun with more or less the way I described above.

Does it make any difference with Sport mode on or off?

Tough to launch well. I always drive with everything off but one time I accidentally had MDM on and the car launched well. I rarely ever launch from a standstill but the guys above are probably on to something there. I would definitely not have the M sport button engaged. All that does is turn the gas pedal into and on off switch. Much better to be able to modulate power delivery with the gas pedal in normal non sport mode.

For launching as well as heavy city traffic driving I definitely prefer NOT to engage the M button (sport mode). For back road kind of aggresive driving I press the M button.

M mode is on whenever I drive my 1M. Specially with the FX300 Clutch I found so much easier to take off at any time with the sport button. And like mentioned above, all nannies off all the time. Only "on" during rainny days.

How do you like your FX300? Any regrets not going with a FX350 or FX400.

Fastest launch will be in 2nd gear, keep the revs around 3-4k, slip the clutch. Of course if you do this much your mechanic will be your friend.
I generally do MDM on 1st gear ~2.5k rpm for quick consistency, only time I'll have MDM on.

My way: Dry tarmac : 1st gear 2000-2500rpm all systems off(no MDM) and M mode on/off I don't care A really tiny tad of wheelspin is inevitable imo...just to keep the internals/parts from being really hurt. Cheers Robin |

No regrets, works great with my setup and no slippage whatsoever. Anything above that for street use I would not recommend.

Yep. That's the way the best drag slips are getting done.

It's heavier, no doubt about that but drivable. Like I said with Sport mode ON it feels a lot easier to drive specially on traffic. It can get bumpy on the take off if you depress the clutch slowly like a normal car. It feels like a race car for sure and not everyone can drive it. I know a vallet or my GF would be letting the car die all the time. You need to get use to it but the car is a beast and you can press the gas and will smoke tires on 1st, 2nd and 3rd with no drama.
If you are the only driver of your M like in my case go ahead and do it and you won't regret it.
