ScheerSpeed Detailed: Trashed Mercedez CLK500

This is a 2004 CLK 500. the car is barely driven only on occasions and had only 17K on the odometer!

At first sight, the car looked as if it hadn't been washed in at least a few months. The brake dust was very caked on and the dirt on the paint was all dried up and stuck to the paint. If i had a foam canon it would have been perfect to use, but unfortunately i dont own one.

enough of me talking and i'll let the pictures speak for themselves

Before:

Here you can see just how caked on all the dirt was

The engine bay looked as if it never had been washed...

To start off i gave the dirtier parts of the car a spray with P21s TAW and gave the wheels a generous coat of P21s wheel gel. I sprayed off the TAW after about 10 minutes, and then went to have breakfast while the wheel gel worked it's magic for about 30 minutes. After breakfast i gave the car a thurough wash using Chemical Guy's Citrus Wash n Clear. Then while the car was still wet i clayed the entire car (including windows and wheels) using the "Special" yellow clay with Optimum No-Rinse as lubrication

Look at how dirty the clay was...

After claying the entire car and applying tape to all the edges this is how the paint looked... i didnt think it would have been so bad...

As you can see, the paint was in pretty bad shape. I decided first to try Menzerna Super Insensive Polish with an Orange Über pad. it cleaned up pretty nicely with one pass, and two passes left the paint 99.9% perfect.

Here's a shot after two passes with SIP

and the hood after SIP and Alcohol wipedown

another 50/50

I Had to take a break to change the song

Two more 50/50's

and another

A 50/50 on the trunklid

After a lot of hard work, sweat, and some elbow grease, here's the final product:

Miami beach...

Thats all, thanks for looking!

Man, that thing looked like someone took 1500 grit to it before they gave it to you.

Good job.

Great job!

How would you say MBZ paint compares to BMW Jet Black? Softer, or harder? Don't they use some type of ceramic coating?

BTW, Menzerna FTW!

this paint was pretty soft. i believe this car was produced before MBZ used ceramic paint... however don't take my word for that... it corrected similar to Jerez black BMW paint
