Misfire mystery
So before u start this i just want to say that im 17 and have relatively any idea on how to fix this... i changed my spark plugs and now my car is throwing codes for a misfire on cylinder 1 and 6 i swapped the coils around and also changed the plugs again and its still throwing the codes could it be a wiring issue or am I actually just stupid and its something obvious?

Alright, lets start from the top. Why did you change your spark plugs to begin with?
When you say you switched coils around, do you mean you switched 1/2 and 5/6 or did you switch 1/6? When you put the coils back in did you make sure the connectors fully seated and clipped in? Did you torque the spark plugs? did you inspect the gap on them and make sure they were relatively good and didn't drop them? I know im asking a lot just trying to skip having like 6 post.

I changed the plugs because i just got it and dont know the service history of the car I swapped coils 1/2 and 6/5 i did gap them they were all gapped correctly and i didnt torque them and the coils are seated and plugged in correctly and i know the coils are working because i tested them with a multimeter

I have a 2010 bmw 128i it has the n52 in it with the stock tune and the code are p0300 p0306 and p0301 and the only light that comes on is the service engine soon light and the engine has ab 160k miles on it

It's possible to completely miss the plug with the boot of the coil. You'll hear it snapping, and if night you'll see a light show in the plug well.
It's also not unheard of to break the coil boot internally when removing them. One not so common but 5/6 being they are kinda a stretch to reach /awkward angle. Though I don't think you'd miss 1 3 times, 6 maybe. Also, a misfire isn't limited to spark. Could be you disrupted an injector ... |
