No China allowed.
Generally, if it can fit the front it can fit the rear no issue.

I have owned and raced on about 9 sets of Enkei RPF1 wheels over the years, and Never had a problem with them.

I spoke to APEX about that and there general impression is that rear fitment was where the fitment problems are, given our funky rear offset.

If youre looking at a square 245 setup youre probably looking at a 17x8 or 17x8.5 setup, right? Inner clearance isnt an issue for us, its outer clearance for the most part. Thats why we have such silly high offsets.

As far as outer clearance goes theres a lot less of it up front than in the rear.

It's all about what tire and how much you're lowered. APEX has to cover their butt to some extent, so they are conservative. On my stock suspension, I was able to run 17x8.5 or 8", 40mm F/R (any wheels with those dimensions of course) with a "normal" fitting 245 tire. Oversized rubber, like a lot of track/autox tires may require a slight rear fender roll and a bit of front camber.

IMHO, a lot more people should be looking into running that setup. Cheap tires, better ride, better chassis balance, etc.

What fitment and tire sizing are you running on the E82?

Yeah that's pretty much it in terms of size.

I'm not worried about the width, I'm worried about the placement of that width. I refuse to roll my fenders.

If enough of us want apex wheels in 17's with 1er offsets, couldn't we get an order made?

Sorry, database funkiness.

I'm not rolling as it is a long term DD in a region that sees a good bit of salt every winter. Rolling stretches the paint and breaks the bond with the metal underneath. I do not want rust.

I certainly hope they see this and make them. Every time I've spoken with them though, they seem resistant to the idea.

Like I said, outside clearance is tighter in the front. Ive had 245 square star specs on 17x8 wheels for the last two years. I rub at times up front, but im not running a lot of camber.

I tried capturing how tight the front is when I first got the wheels, its not great but it gives you an idea - clearance in the rear is about the same as stock (but a little more on the aggressive side)

Shrug, APEX told me the issue was the rears.

Zero rub is acceptable to me.

Why do you keep saying this...they've also confirmed you can run 17x8.5 40ET in the rear with a 245, but no wider. So if that is enough for you, than what's the problem?

If you're not willing to dial up the ride height a bit to eliminate any slight rub in the front you're having (if you even have any)... run 235s in wider-running tires, or select tires that are true 245s.

Because that isn't what they said to me. The told me point blank to make a 245 fit in the rear I would need -2 degrees of rear camber and likely rolled fenders with any sort of track tires. That is anything but a good fitment.

I'm not raising the car. It is at the ideal ride height.

I'm looking for a wheel that lets me run 245 square track tires with a 1" drop and a bit of negative camber in the front with a bit less in the rear. It isn't an extreme request. I really want APEX to deliver that, but currently it isn't in the lineup.

Other APEX reps have stated a 245 works fine. Besides that, again, they have to cover their ass and be conservative. Look at the car in that picture above for god sakes. That's a WIDE 245, and alas, no rubbing.

Also, look in the 17" tack wheel thread, 135i, 17x8.5 ARCs, 245 tires in the rear, no added camber over stock. No rubbing in the rear.

I personally have run a 17x8.5, ET40 245/40 HTRZIII, again, no rubbing in the rear. Also ran ET50 with a 12mm spacer and a 245/40, just to test...again...wait for it...no rubbing.

I bet your extra camber from running a bit lower actually helps you fit them, rather than hurts you. -2 up front is PLENTY to run a 245.

Stop being obtuse. It's popular, it works.

Within a month's time I'll be at a 1" or so drop, running 245 ZIIs. I'll let you know if I need to roll and if there is rub.

A 17x8.5, ET40 will give you just that. You just can't keep ignoring that people use this setup successfully, without a roll, and claim to be disappointed that you can't.

How about just buying 4 rear M68s? 17x8.5, et 50 and call it a day? Functional, strong...cheap...and look half decent?

This issue of fitting 245/40/17 on the ET40 rear rims, will probably come down to tire choice. If you talk about track tires I would be thinking of Toyo R888 as minimum. If you want a proper semi slick for circuit use, eg Yokohama A050, I seriously doubt that will fit on the rear 17x8.5 ET40 without rolling the fenders. On the other hand if your idea of a wide track tire is a Dunlop ZII star spec, or Hankook RS-3, then with 2.0 rear camber and stock fenders 245/40/17 will probably be ok.
