The PE for my wife's 2011 128i Convertible is axle-back, not cat-back. All you get is a muffler that looks like the stock one but has really nice polished tips. It's a direct replacement and even has a place to connect the vacuum hose from the stock exhaust flapper. It does sound amazing - you'd never think it was a 128 by listening to it.

But how does the sound compare to the MagnaFlow?

you are correct for stating that as mine does hang a bit low as well. I didn't think nothing much of this since mine was a dealer install. But I guess it can be an easy fix.

That would be pretty much impossible - since the 128 PE is a one-piece muffler with the tips welded on at the factory, and it uses the factory mounts. Put the two units side-by-side and they're identical except for the larger polished tips and lack of a flapper valve on the PE. The mounting rods are exactly the same. Note that there is a slight curve to the rear bumper, particularly to the cutout in the center section/diffuser. The PE and the stock muffler tips both follow this curve; if not, the inner pipe would appear closer to the top of the cutout.

I just installed mine for my 128i and I love it! Had to cut twice since I cut too little off first(better that than too much). I love the growl it now gives and I find myself going out of my way to go through underpasses and really give it the beans. I find a smile on my face and feel like a little kid again... And according to Richard Hammond on Top Gear if it makes you feel like a 12 year old again then they did something right!

My PE is the most non useful, extravagant, not needed item that I just absolutely love.

I's quite an aggressive sounding exhaust. At first I thought it was a bit too much, but now I just love it and it has a nice pop/burble on the rev overrun.

Thanks, Beans. Actually, I live in Forest Creek, about 15 minutes' ride south from the Ikea on 1431. I take it you're from the Austin/Round Rock area? If so, how about those Sunday morning runs to Round Rock donuts?

I would definitely say that the PE made my car instantly more enjoyable to drive. The growliness makes the car so much more aggressive. I almost always drive with the windows down nowadays, even when it gets a bit chilly.

I think Dickey's has the best in the Plano area, but here in Austin/Round Rock, it's the Salt Lick that's got them all beat! There's one here in Round Rock right next to the Dell Diamond.

Definitely Salt Lick. Huge portions and absolutely delicious! In fact it's almost required by me to stop there on the way back to SA if I even make the trip up to Ikea.

Hard to drive down highway 79 near the Diamond without the incredible smell of the smoked meat making you stop in for some takeout! And it's far easier to get to than the original place in Driftwood.

135i bumpers should be universal. The only differences are with the skirts between cabrio and coupe.

No, it's the 128i M-Sport rear bumper - came with the car.
