1Addicts Community! Lets Build the Right Wheel - Give Us Your 2 Cents!
Hey guys!
*** THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREAD *** We're asking for your guys' opinions on what you guys think should be the correct wheel size and offsets. All opinions are wanted, from 1Addicts members to other vendors, GIVE US YOUR 2 CENTS! Keep in mind we are considering the use of coilovers/springs, fender rolling options, and wider tire sizing. All in the pursuit of more grip, faster launches, and the spirit of pure motoring! To start it off, when your submit your opinion please put in the following format: Front Size: Front Offset: Rear Size: Rear Offset: From our experiences, this is our first recommendation: Front Size: 18x8.5 Front Offset: +48 Rear Size: 18x9.5 Rear Offset: +52 We're also thinking about a +50 Front and +54 Rear, reason being to fit wider tires. DICUSS!!! |

i actually like the MORRs is taking building a "middle of the road" wheel. 18x8 and 18.8.5.
Maybe a 18x8.5 and 18x19.5 would work but I don't want to go through the hassle of finding the right tires and making there isn't any rubbing. Isn't this size right on the edge ? Some of us are more conservative than others. Jeff |

Front Size: 18x8.5
Front Offset: +48 Rear Size: 18x9.5 Rear Offset: +52 This sounds pretty good and should be able to accommodate a nice selection of tires. Since we're talking about building the right wheel, don't forget about weight. 24-25 lbs. is just too heavy. |

Basically something equivalent to the Enkei RPF1 in a staggered BMW fitment... Obviously something with a more appealing look would be nice; however, these wheels can't be beat: inexpensive, without compromising quality, VERY light and generally able to fit quite a bit of rubber.
18" (not interested in anything larger) and sub-20 lbs + fitting 255s in the front and 275s in the rear WITHOUT having to roll the fenders would be awesome (camber plates would be OK though...). If you build it, they will come...

PLEASE: do NOT just blindly go x8.5, x9.5!
More reasonable fitments (8.5, or maybe 9.0, tops) for this car would best serve it. It has a narrower wheel well and track than other BMWs, and should be served appropriately. I'm not an expert at wheel geometry but I don't want just the largest thing that will fit! High offset 18x8 front, 18x8.5 rears would be more appropriate. Just IMO. |

Front: 18"x8.5" with an offset between +40 and stock (whatever will fit a 255/35-18 without rubbing).
Rear: 18"x9.5" with an offset between stock and +60 (whatever will fit a 285/30-18 without rubbing). Both of these sizes exist for the Continental ContiSportContact 2, which is the exact tire I want to run... :headbang:

So are you guys saying, you would prefer an 18x8 and an 18x9 setup?
With that you guys will be getting less tire patch, I would imagine you guys wanting more tire contact to get the cars power down. At least that's my reasoning. Keep in mind factor-in suspension guys. I am hoping to see some other sponsors chiming in here with their experiences as well hopefully. |

I personally think that IF you're going to go with wheels so close in width it only makes sense to come up with something that will fit all 4 corners AND fit the same size rubber so you can rotate them...
Just my $.02...

We're looking to get a consensus on what wheels the community would generally want to fit nicely, not have rubbing issues, work with their aftermarket suspension, get optimal tire usage. This is to get your voice so that we can let the manufacturers know what you guys would like to make. Basically most of them are afraid, or just want to reuse their existing molds to save on costs. But the 1 is a different beast, it obviously requires some higher offsets. So this thread is to voice everyones opinion on the direction that wheels should get made for the 1. As well as to hear the experience that some of you have had on what has worked and what hasn't. |
