For me personally, BMW's pricing is a sign that the 335i is probably a better choice (again, for me) and that I should get in before a large 2009MY price increase.
I agree... now is probably a really good time to get a 335i.

You know... before BMW gets all MB-CLK-crazy on us, and hikes the prices of the 3er. I still think it's going to happen.

And on the tangible side, Audi has done a much better job at reskinning a Volkswagen than Volvo has done at reskinning a Ford. Have you even sat in/driven the two cars? The A3 is a football field ahead of the S40 in terms of a quality entry-level luxury offering.
Your opinion, but I would rather have the S40. But that is besides the point, no one here is arguing that the A3 is reasonably priced. Quite the contrary which is probably why the A3 does not go flying off dealer lots.

Quote:
Hah! Who are you to be making that sort of call? Don't be pretentious. We don't even know what sort of lease deals there are to be had.
I can't have an opinion? What is this? The Stalin campaign for 1addicts?

As for lease deals, we already know that the 335i sedan carries some pretty sweat deals (especially as a refreshed model is coming soon) and I would almost certainly guarantee that the 135i lease deals will, at best case scenario, be the same as the 335i. I would expect Z4 Coupe-esque lease deals (i.e. not good) for the 135i. The 128i will be very different, though.

I am most assuredly NOT confused. Like I said, I sat in all the cars, and I made my judgement call based on what I considered to be material/build quality. Kthx.
Did you read the post? I am not questioning your judgement. I am saying that (keeping in mind that my statement was more of a point at other members) to say that the badge justifies a premium is absurd. The badge carries a certain expectation but if the model does not meet that expectation, it will fail regardless of the badge.

BTW, who ever renamed the thread to exclude the destination charge clearly has some sort of agenda. Lame effort indeed... it is not like the destination charge automatically disappears.

Garmin + an hdtv.

Although if you planning on using ipod interface I imagine the nav will have a better display.

-1; it's consistent with the manner prices are displayed at bmwusa.com.

The absolute minimum MSRP for the 135i is not 34,900. Regardless of how BMW posts their numbers, the destination charge does not disappear and is still a mandatory factor in the price of the car. Removing it is deluding those who read it (yes, that means BMW is deluding their viewers too).

Be that as it may, people are using the MSRP as the basis for comparison to other models and makes, whose prices also do not include destination & handling.

Anyone who's pricing it out knows to include +775 along with their options.

i'd rather people be consistent. it has already caused too many stupid mistakes where people try to add the 775 twice. i certainly understand your point but i disagree.

Purely for Nav functionality, I tend to agree. For the added UI for iPod, phone, audio, and real-time traffic... I'm on the fence still.

What he said - there's some integration of functionality that has me intrigued - someone talk me out of it. ; -)

Aparently you cant count very well.

Here is a loaded EX-L, V6, 6-Speed with Navi, 18in wheels: $32,432

This price also includes the HFP kit that honda has which is a NICE looking kit.

Without the kit the price is reduced to $31,145

Definitely a better deal than NAV. But I'm curious, just where are you going to mount the HDTV in your 135i?

Still seems like a lot for an Accord, particularly since I bought a new Accord for $3995 (but of course that was in '76).

Since these days you can configure Toyota's, Nissan's, and Hyundai's in the 30s the price tag for the 1er (even with options) seems down right reasonable.

Yep, BMW screwed up big time and can kiss new buyer sales goodbye. Only hardcore BMW fanboys will be buying the 1 series. A entry level 128i for $30k are you kidding me? The WRX has the same power and performance for over $5k less. A 135i that after dealer bullshit will be damn near $40k is also a joke. A new Evo X bases for $7k less and an STi for $5k less. Again, both those cars will either perform just as well or better than the 135i.

Save the "well a Mitsubishi or a Subaru isnt a BMW" fanboy bullshit. The rest of the buying public BMW was hoping to get dont care and wont buy an entry level 1 series at those prices. I expect to see many sitting on lots, idiots.

There's always talk of a ZHP option but it seems like that would be at least another year away in the product cycle (MY10). However, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the 335 got a few tweaks in MY09 to justify a price increase. Power would be easy to increase (say to "330 hp"...the same on paper as the G37) and it would further differentiate it from the 1. Of course we know it's already close to that at the crank power-wise.

The current iteration is attractive enough to me and I'm more than willing to "refresh" the car myself.

Thank you madam for your input.

This is what the Honda configurator has for a loaded 2008 Accord Coupe:

Base MSRP*:$30,510 Destination & Handling:$635 MSRP including selected accessories: $36,415Selected Accessories (installation costs not included): Auto Day/Night Mirror with Compass $299 Back-up Sensors $499 19" PDS-10 HFP Alloy Wheel Painted Finish $2,803 Trunk Tray $135 Splash Guards $99 Car Cover $250 All-Season Floor Mats $139 Body Side Molding $209 Full Nose Mask $165 Moonroof Visor $125 Rear Bumper Applique $69 Interior Illumination $109 Front Under Spoiler $369

I'd guess that "loaded" has a very different meaning to you and I.

Cheers,

Cs
