First Run Thunderhill

Best times were around 2:16 without traffic. I had an M3 and Mustang spin out in front of me and narrowly missed them both and then had a Z06 waive me by but try to take an inside line through the turn Ahhh! I couldn't check up so I went through the turn and hit a barrel. Luckily my baby is still in one piece. Youtube link attached.

I babied it around the track, but felt like I learned a lot. Tire pressure makes a huge difference BTW. On cold tires I had a ton of grip, but after five laps I was sliding like there was grease on the track. Memo to self check tire pressures after lap not before.

Car was very competitive in the Solo group.

very nice! love this track. can we say endless runoffs! glad to see someone else is posting videos and their track experiences other than me in this forum. btw, one piece of advise if I may, keep your hands on the steering wheel when you're driving down the straight. I use to do this also. it's a bad habit we develop over the years from street driving. you want to be able to control the car if something unexpected happens. especially since you're driving at very high rate of speed. any suspension mods? how did the brakes hold up?

It's funny you said that about the hands on the wheel. The good thing about video is I never realized how much I took my hands off the wheel. I made a conscious effort to keep both hands on the wheel too. Definitely still learning.

I have the Dinan stage 1 suspension, but brakes are the stock performance brakes. The brakes have no fade at all. The last session with bonus session was ten laps and the brakes were the same on the last lap as the first. Still not the kind of bite I would like, but I might just need better pads. The thing I noticed is I have to give the Vette's a lot of room because they stop a lot quicker than me.

I still drive this way on the streets. one hand on the gear lever. you can definitely upgrade how your brakes perform by a few little mods. upgrading your brake fluid and pads is a no brainer. also, you should check your air pressure before and after a session. you always want to start with the right cold pressure but need to know hot pressure after a session so you can be sure what to set your cold.

Yeah I was surprised to see the tire pressure shoot up to 44-46 psi after starting at 32. Watching the videos I was pulling over 1g in a lot of the turns at the start but by the end I was down to around .90g. Well I'm going again tomorrow and I'll make sure I measure them after that first run.

near miss with M3

Check out turn 1 on second lap. An M3 goes off and comes back on in front of me in a cloud of dirt. I thought he was going to stay down but his momentum carried him back up the track. My ass puckered big time.
