Another 3rd brake light thread (only lasted 2 months)

Hi all,

Bought my 125i this year (out of warranty now) and experienced the 3rd brake light issue soon after. Had to pay for a replacement from my local BM dealer as car was out of warranty. Now the second one is showing small cracks and letting it minor moisture after washing the car.

No damage has occured to prompt this new one to crack, so am I correct in assuming it should be covered under the genuine parts 2 year warranty and the replacement will be free?

Kinda annoyed seeing as how this replacement only last like 2ish months :/

Also i mentioned the TSB regarding the fix for the light last time, I thought the TSB solved the issue of the cracking light. Has anyone else had their's crack after the fix was supposedly done on their vehicle?

I had mine replaced about 2yrs after purchasing my car. It has been 1 yr on with no problem. I'll let you know if in the next 12 months it happens again. Hard to say with these things.

Just an update, dropped the car off at BMW fortitude valley today for a new third brake light. Picking it up later today and will report on if they were able to provide me a reason as to why the replacment only lasted 2ish months

Depends on whether they know how to fix it properly:

Also if they happen to overtorque the screws, that can cause it to crack too.
