Unstable bluetooth?

Hi all,

I recently bought a 325i which runs great, however, the bluetooth functionality is a bit unstable. The problem that I am experiencing is that the phone and the car's headset does not always connect. In fact, it is most often the case that no connection is made. I have paired two different phones (a Sony Ericsson P910i and a SE S710i) and the behavior is the same for both phones.

Is this a problem that someone else is experiencing? I would really appreciate any suggestions.

You probably need the CIP 20 software update.

Is there a way to check which software version is currently being used?

Take your car to the dealer. They can check. In general, though, if the car was manufactured before mid December it won't have the CIP 20 update unless you have had it updated.

My car was manufactured in November, but received on January 10 after the dealership had time to update it. Yet I still have intermittent bluetooth disconnects. Very annoying.

Mine was manufactured in early December, and I bought it in February. It didn't have the update, and I had to take it to the dealer to get the update done.

Make sure you have your auto answer turned on, on your phone. Once I did that, I had no problems. Good luck.

I took delivery of my 330i with navigation on March 7, 2006, and it did not have the updated software. Like other people have posted, my treo 650 (Verizon) worked for a week or two and then stopped working. I also noticed that I could not turn on/off the bluetooth connection on the car. Weird. Anyway, I took it to the dealership (Momentum BMW in Houston) and they knew immediately that the car needed the update. It took 2 days to get it updated, but now it works perfectly with my treo 650.

I am really surprised the car didn't have an update that apparently was available in early January. Good luck to those still dealing with this issue.
