Im confused, is it a recall or not cause it says to take it to the dealership once the checkengine light comes on, I thought a recall meant you take it in regardless of what happens or am I wrong?

Anybody receive a recall notification yet? When I call the dealership they have no idea, but the recall is plastered on every major news website. Even the BMW USA site has nothing when I put in my VIN # What gives?

This is really getting scary now for our cars, I have contacted local BMW Stealership but none of them got any definite answers for me.
Mine has been confirmed, 2011 model - built Aug '10 been affected by the recall. Scheduling for repairs Can BMW build more reliable cars for Christ sake! Last edited by Eddie135; 05-27-2014 at 05:28 PM.. |

You will get a letter from BMW if your car is affected, can take a while though... Last time I got a letter about 1-2 months after the news reported the recall. It's probably way too early for the dealers to give out info (if they even know).

Funny it says from 2010-2013 but in the content it says both twin-turbo and single turbo? My understanding is that from 2010 onwards all models that ends with 35I is N55. Am I wrong?

Apparently it is related to this SIB.
So it affects N55 cars built in 2010. My car was built December 2010 so going to have a chat to the dealer. |

I reckon they are over priced. A friend of mine just bought one recently Z4 35i. Imagine the amount of powah that we have in ours in a smaller and or agile and lighter car! Now that's a pocket rocket!

Hi guys,
Couple months back my oil light turned on asking me to add oil (+1) while I was on the road, so had to stop at SuperCheap. Clumsy me spilt abit of oil on the surrounding. i whipe as much as I could at the time, Following morning decide to give my engine bay a clean, realised there was engine or some sort of oil on the other side of the block. Thinking it was from my stupidity from the previous day. Not thinking anything more of it. I washed it. The Monday had gone past I notice more oil in front of the block, charge pipe and pool of oil on my splash plate. Took it to BMW knowing my warrenty is coming to an end and the recent BMW recall on our N55. Tech guys at BMW had a quick inspection and may think its a oil filter seal or a gasket. So the car was now booked in for further diagnostic. I will keep you guys inform on the outcome. Build date 9/10 - E82 N55 |
