Staggered Setup Question.

Hi,

I just got some M3 18 rims, to replace my 162 style rims on my e90. My question is the M3 rims are extruding by 17mm on the rear. Do I need to make the front to extrude 17mm as well? To keep the staggered dynamics inact? Or it should be extruded in the front but by a lesser value?

old wheel specs style 162
front 8.0inch 225/40/18 offset +34mm
rear 8.5inch 255/35/18 offset +37mm

new wheel specs, M3 2002
front 8.0inch 225/40/18 offset +47mm
rear 9.0inch 255/35/18 offset +26mm

Thanks

Thinking about a 20mm spacer in front, this will extrude it by 7mm.
Or should I do a 30mm spacer, this will extrude it by 17mm which matches the rear wheel extrudsion.

Thanks.

Finally installed spacers on the front, 20mm each side. Spacers fixed the sluggish handling that I was expriencing. It now handles the same as the 162's setup if not better. Did some very hard cornering at 45+mph, no rubbing at all (taped blue masking tape all around the fender area for the test).

Before
rear extrudes by 17mm
front is pulled in by 13mm
(I think the 60mm (2 1/3 inch) difference in the stance caused the sluggish handling issue...)

Now
rear extrudes by 17mm
front extrudes by 7mm

I took some pics but don't know how to post them...\

A spacer is a metal plate that you put between the wheel and the wheel mount on the car to make the wheel stick out more.

does 2 things.
1. Fix wheel fitment issues.
2. Supposely improves handling because the stance is widen.

But in general people say spacers can cause more problems then fix them if installed incorrectly.
