Problem is that any of the private sales I've been interested in on here always end up costing way too much in shipping. That's not a criticism of the great guys around here. I just think that the Vendors have access to much better shipping prices than individuals do...

One guy told me it would cost $950 USD to ship an iCarbon lip to Oz and another guy told me over a grand for an axle-back exhaust...
those prices are ridiculous!

Yup... JLevi can ship this aFe intake for $120ish... I'd be surprised if any private seller could even do it for double that....

$120 seems like a very good deal.

Yeah, private party shipping to AU is painfully ridiculous. Sorry man.

Just installed one today - can't get the intake tube to seal correctly - it keeps spreading apart. Did anyone else feel like the intake tube was an inch or two too short?

Yeah mine kept sliding apart. I was able to line it up fine, but once I tightened it, it would slide apart. So I cleaned the surface very well, and it worked fine.

AFe issues

I just did one of these this AM...any issues connecting the new aFe filter piping to the stock piping? The two do NOT want to stay in place regardless of how much I tighten the fastener....I have it installed with 2 fasteners, but I am worried its leaking air. Turner said they had similar issues with them on the n55, how'd you get around this?

Has anyone confirmed whether this little ripper makes a good seal to the bonnet and doesn't suck any warm engine air?

..looks great btw!

Will check for you when I head to work in about 2 hrs. As far as an airtight seal, no way, but substantial enought to block excess engine heat from overrunning the filter

I can also report instant performance increases, especially from 3k-6k rpm....as well as more torque in the same revv range.

Exhaust note is deeper, turbo whoosh more pronounced, and engine sounds better (even with my shitty installation, can't wait to fix it!)

Cool good to hear its working out well.
With this and the ppk, there is a huge difference from stock

yeappp, am trying to decide between JB4 stage 2, Dinan, or GIAC...any suggestions? I have BMW performance exhaust already installed (bought the car Saturday!) and was going to get PPK, but the port said that the N55 was rejecting the PPK software

I've confirmed we can order the correct n55 software - they need to mail us an envelope with serial numbers and then we can program the car - 20 Hp, louder exhaust, well worth it

Do you want to retain the factory warranty? I think dinan matches the factory warranty, but the others will void it. That's why I went with the ppk

Just ordered power pack today! Dinan is great, but according to a few buddies at BMW they have been having some issues with it...plus...2,000 vs. 600 (cost) is a no brainer! I'll futz around with the other chips after the warranty expires...

Man that aFe pushes throughout the rev range, took it out early this am in the cold for a blast, definitely feel the difference 100%.

Noticed a lot of front end lift and light steering around 120-160mph...maybe aero kit is my next buy...

Ps. Talked to aFe sales manager, best fix for bad fitting is to scuff up inside of both pipes and clean VERY well with rubbing alcohol...he said brake cleaner will corrode the seal, be careful
