Just found a set of replacement tips for the stock PE ones. Will update everyone after they arrive.

Ideally I'll keep the car and pick up a 3rd (family) car next year. I would love to get a used F25 X3 with the n20 motor. The F25 is about the same size as the 1st gen X5, which to me the perfect size for a family hauler. Unless you need a 3rd row don't see a reason to go any bigger.
you have 2 kids?

my wife is in her 2nd trimester and our baby WILL be rear facing in the 1M. When i picked up my 135is i had told my wife that it would be the car our baby would go home from the hospital in......uhhhhh...until i traded it in for the 1M and then promptly re-announced that the 1M would be the car our baby would go home in! lol.

I know the 1er is fine for 1 rear facing infant seat in the middle rear (safest position, actually) as i've spoken to a few people who did it. 2 rear facing seats? not sure about that....

No kids but we're planning to go in that direction.

I'll try to hold onto the 1 as long as possible...

Yes... especially between those ages. The trick is to get the correct infant car seat and then the toddler seat. Combi is the brand you need on the infant carrier and the cheapest Safety First toddler seat you can find. They are the most compact out of all of them. Heck you can have mines but I know all you newbie parents want new stuff... lol

Funny you mention the x3. I have the exact same truck and love it. I came from a Mercedes GLK 350 and the X3 with 4 cylinder, I enjoy it way more then my Mercedes with the 6 cylinder. But I also found both too big for everyday around the town.

If I did it all over again. I would only have the 1er. It is way more then adequate for our everyday needs.

PS: Congratulations!

Well we have both the 135is and a 15' X3 (Xdrive 28) and have a 9 year old daughter and a 4 month old boy now. The 1 is still fine for outings for the whole fam, before the baby my 9 year old had 0 issues going in and out of the rear of the 1, and was always super comfortable in the back. With the baby, we mostly go out in the X3 now, but still have no issues taking out the 1 from time to time. We have the Graco Snugride seat and it's a bit tight to get in and out of the back of the 1, but once in, it fits fine. It'll be easier when he's a bit older and can use the forward facing seats that don't need to go in and out, but still, I say the 1 can EASILY be a great family car, even with a baby, his seat and the stroller.
As for the X3, I'm also constantly amazed at how the little 28 engine can pull that truck hard. I still wish we could have gone for the bigger motor, but we picked options instead. Plus it handles great! (We only push handling when the baby isn't in the car!).

Congrats! Also don't forget Clarkson said the 1M had room for 2 more children in the boot.

Corolla roof rack!

I wonder if they make those trunk racks like older cars for the 1...

Well you wouldn't want to go over 80mph with dead hookers attached on top of the trunk rack as that would attract unwarranted attention, so downforce wouldn't apply in this case.

Looks majestic. Totally unbiased, I love the mineral grey. Was just sitting there staring at mine earlier in a trader jose's parking lot.

First off, I'm allergic to nuts. Second off, I stopped after 10 minutes and several cars honking at me as I stood in the middle of the aisle.

You're...just jealous...that the 1M...didn't come in mineral grey? Yep, I'm pretty sure that's gotta be it. Totally it. =P

By the way, I did go by to check this thing out after leaving trader joe's.

so that guy put a roll cage in his 1M but didn't remove the rear seats?? weird.

your creepy trader joe style would be even creepier if you were experiencing a concurrent nut allergy while you were staring at your own car.

At least I would have died the way I lived - staring longingly.

Didn't get to see that car cause they weren't open and I didn't see it on the lot out front.

Probably because the rollbar is not permanently installed. I bet it can be unbolted since it used existing factory holes.

It's actually a pretty well built car, but I wouldn't pay full market price for something that's been track abused despite the high price mods.
