Bolts for M3 front arm installation

I purchased a the M3 front arm kit from HPA autowerks, and had it fitted around May last year.

I am not sure, but I think the shop must have re-used the original mounting bolts when installing the arms. According to one opinion I have read on the forum only new bolts should be used for installation. Does anyone have an opinion whether my car is safe or not?

I can only tell you 2 things definitively.....there were new nuts included with my kit and I'm not losing any sleep over the fact that there weren't new bolts. First I've ever heard of anything like that but I'm obviously no expert.

Oh...and you better replace your lugnuts too everytime you replace a tire...if anything I'd believe those would be more likely to "stretch".

Edited: As this part had no bearing on this discussion..my bad.

I could be way off base here as well, so take it for what it's worth. A couple people in that thread are clearly convinced those parts are defective and we're on borrowed time. Come on really?

Whatever...to each their own.

You should contact a few dealers and ask what they say. Did you ask Harold @HPA?

I believe the suspension bolts ARE stretch bolts. Meaning when you torque them up... they stretch. Sure you could reuse them... but they will break sooner or later. IF it were my car I wouldn't take that chance. Especially when that bolt is holding up your car!

As for wheel lug bolts. No those aren't stretch bolts. BUT they do wear. IF you constantly swapping out wheels... it would be a good idea to inspect your lug bolts and maybe replace them every year or two. It was user: Drivehard who first reported how his 128i lug bolts had stress cracks from all the DE events he does with his car.

Mine never came with new bolts and and I just reused the old ones. Been tracking on them for a couple years now with no issues since I put them on.
