brought the car in today and they fixed the recall on the seatbelt. The guy called and said the car was ready but the taillight isnt fixed because they need a part that is on backorder......(sound familiar). He said I could keep the loaner till the part comes in, but i didnt want to leave my car there since he said they may not get the taillight kit until November 7th or 8th.

Btw, he said someone else had their car there today too, but BOTH of the their taillights were out...

When I had mine in for oil change 2months ago, they performed the TSB and replaced my tailight gaskets. 30 days later L.R. LED died.
- got 2 new tailights then.

Where did you bring your car? Mines going in to Patrick Tuesday for everything... (taillights, seat belt, software)

Knauz in Lake Bluff. I thought about bringing it to Patrick, but i figured they wouldnt be able to fix the taillights either since its back ordered, so i just went to what was closer to me. Such a pain in the ass though. Now I have to be careful driving by cops cuz i dont want to get a ticket for a taillight out.

ditto for me. going on third straight week.

absolutely NO communication from my dealership (Performance in Chapel Hill). none. even "funnier," they sent me a mailer extolling the many services they can provide for my 135. the headline talked about the importance of good service. ha!

Picked up my CPO 128i last night and the driver's side tail light went out this afternoon. The brake light seems to be working, as does the turn signal, but the parking light is out completely, as are the LEDs. This presents a problem for me, not only because it's a safety issue, but because I need to get my car inspected ASAP since it was purchased out of state and this is part of my registration process. Hmm, not even one full day of ownership and I encounter the first problem. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

I am in the same boat. Can't get a safety inspection due to this issue. Driving around with expired sticker and tail light out. Dealer says "BMW is aware of the situation". Great, thanks.

Me to, the day my car was going to get saftied so I could pick it up from the dealership and bring it home the lights went out. That was 3 weeks ago... they are still on backorder in Germany, haven't even shipped yet.

finally got my tail lights fixed yesterday. the "kit" is backordered until December or January. the person at BMW corporate said there were plenty of parts available to fix the problem. so I'm not even sure what they did, but they both work now, just in time for DST.

it took exactly 22 days of constant hounding to get the issue resolved.

good luck, guys. if this isn't a recall issue, I can't figure out why not.

Dropped my car off at the dealer this morning. The tail light was working the whole way to the dealer and I was picturing a fight as I tried to convince the dealer that the tail light actually wasn't working. As luck would have it, as the valet pulled my car away from the service drop-off, I pointed out to my service advisor that the tail light was again out. My service advisor said that the car should be ready this afternoon so hopefully that means that they have the necessary parts available, even if the "kits" aren't.

Can you get some details on the "kit", my understanding was there would be complete light replacements.

I was referring to bkochuk's post above mine. Not sure what the "kit" is.

I was told the same thing when i brought mine in..he said he thinks its just a bulb, but then called me later in the day and said they need to order the part (the "kit") and its on backorder. I'm still waiting to get the call that they have the part.

I also am not quite sure what the "kit" was/is, but I interpret it to mean a larger part of the assembly--something way beyond a bulb.

The dealer replaced a bulb in the tail light kind of as a stopgap measure for now. They said it'll probably be a few weeks for the "kit" to come in because they're backordered, which everyone on here already knows.

Man if I were you I'd call the GM, tell him that you will be there first thing in the morning and that the car is staying at the dealer until A. The lights are fixed and B. They put an inspection sticker on your car. Also that you will get a loaner for as long as it takes them to figure out how to fix it.
