racing games?

holy shit WAY and RadiuM nice set ups. i'll definately have to get into something like that.
my xbox gave me the red ring of death last week so i'm waiting for microsoft to fix the fault. i usually play first person shooters to relieve stress, i imagine all the poeple i'm killing are some of my employees. but i should definately look into a set up like that. i could have it up loud enough to just drown out the wifes voice....

mine got the RROD, 3.5 years after I bought it so it was out of warranty.

It's quite a simple fix, you take the heatsinks off, put on more goo between the cpu and heatsinks and buy some 20cent bolts from bunnings and bolt the sucker down, hard.

mine is 3 years 2 months old from the manufacture date but i bought it more recently so they did it under warranty, i had the most awkward argument with a women in India until she agreed.
i keep reading and hearing the odd story about 3D being the next big thing for gaming and xbox. a driving simulator like yours would be insane if this ever comes out.

I just got the Forza 3 game and it Rocks!
I rushed through the game and saved every penny until I could afford the 135i lol.
Now I am just mucking around with the customisations, I installed my real life no. plates, 19inch CSL style wheels, lowered it, and limo tint haha.
Its going to be great times with this game.

I'm full jealous... Don't know if I should fork out $450 and get a 360 + FM3 setup... I would be sorted!! I know I won't play any other games on the 360 though

There are other great games on the 360 as well and its my main game console when it comes to games, my PS3 doesnt get much use except for the odd exclusive.

Ive been told you can get an arcade model (no Hard drive) xbox 360 with FM3 at Dick Smiths for $199. Go online and buy a HD for approx. $40-$80 either 20gb-120gb.
Im not sure about the prices on the steering wheels though.

What a deal! I thought maybe you had the prices mixed up but I just checked it online and you are right!! Xbox 360 Arcade Halo + FM3 for $199... Sold out though

Whats the big difference between arcade, pro, elite etc? What does having no HDD restrict me in doing? Am I still able to play the game? Still HD?

The HD just allows you to download content. The plan was people never had to buy a HD to play games (arcade) but I think that's going out the window. Forza 3 requires you to install disc 2 onto the HD for extra tracks/cars but I guess you don't really need to/can on the Arcade edition. Id recommend a HD for demo's, downloadable games etc.

Also, if you dont have a HD the arcade comes with a memory card which is where the save games go.

And the arcade doesnt come with component cables, (composite only) which doesn't really matter if your going to plug it in via HDMI.

But, check out the MS site, they compare the 3 SKU's of the xbox on their site.. Arcade, Premium and Elite.

Not a big problem, just go to EB games/JB Hifi and they should match the deal.

I am trying to work on Mrs WAY to get rid the driving unit off their apartment.

I can think of a place for it now @ my place

I went to EB Games and they won't price match unless they have it in stock at the closest store because otherwise they don't consider it as competition. Also, Dick Smith apparently haven't had the particular 360 model I've been wanting since December last year. I've tried 3 stores and they all say the other stores have them in stock but when I call them no luck

After doing some quick research I've decided it's best to go with the 360 Elite over the arcade.

I bought Forza 3 the day it was released, JBHi are the best place to get games. Must say the Audi R8 V10 is pretty good.

Yesterday I got Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, WOW, what a game!! number 1 was my favourite game on xbox, this one is proving even better.

arcade has no hard-drive comes with a white controller

pro has 60gb harddrive but no hdmi port comes with a white controller

elite is 120gb harddrive has hdmi port and is black and comes with a black controller
( elites do not over heat (as much) they have upgraded heatsinks)

things may have changed in the newer models but this was the differance before.

and for if you can play the game hd
anything that is equal to or greater than 480p is hd
the composite cable will give up to 720p or 1080i

1080i is the standard for games

forza 3 is only 720p/1080i

but word is that gt5 will be 1080p if that makes any differance but thats ps3 not xbox...

EB price match everything I show to them. I got the FIFA 10 for $17. $109.95 retail. Price matched to $89 of JB price. Traded in 4 x 2 year old Wii games I have never played.

Last week they have price matched TEKKEN 6 to $86 from a catalog that does not really show that one is $86. JB is selling that at $99.

Anyone play FIFA 10. I am still very shit at it? Online match?

They all come with a HDMI port, even the arcade. I bought a second one for another room so I just need to swap the HD over.

They all use the same hardware now unless you can find old stock somewhere, but they should all now have the smaller nanometer chips and heatsinks.

And the games don't actually run at 1080i etc.
eg, Gran Theft Auto is around 720p lines from memory, but it is upscaled to whatever res you have your output at. Same goes for the ps3, except GTA4 runs at something like 620lines.

I'd really like to see if they actually bring out GT5 actually running in native 1080p res.

It will be just like when Sony said the PS3 would have 2x HDMI ports and 3x gigibit network ports. hahaha
