here are the rules from there tech inspection page... Roll Bars All open cars, soft tops, and open race cars, must have adequate roll bars. The deployable roll bars are adequate. The driver in all open cars will be subject to the broomstick test. Roll bars must be covered with closed cell foam padding in any place where a helmet could come in contact with the bar. we are going to have to ask if you need to drive with the bar deployed or not..

I also just emailed them also to ask if it needs to be presented deployed or not for the broom stick test. technically we can "deploy" them. they are spring loaded, and can be shoved back down later at no cost. I dont know the distance between a deployed bar and the rear glass though??? you may have to run with Top down...

ohh trust me. That won't be an issue
How would it work? Would you trick the gyroscope into thinking that the car was in a roll? So long as I could come to Rallye and get the bars put back down for free I'd be in. |

Actually I take that back. 95% of people on the road are too stupid to realize that your bars shouldn't be deployed unless your car is in the process of flipping.

actually there is a simple lever to release them and to put them back..it does not have to be done at the dealer.. we could do it at the track.... im gonna double check that when i have a 135 vert in front of me... believe it or not, not one in today !!

actually found a 128 vert, but not accesiable at this moment to play with. stand by.... Oh got response back from NJMP see below for quote: " State Police require all convertibles to have a permanent roll bar. The factory roll bar is only legal if it is fixed. This is either done by the factory (example- Honda S-2000) or if you can figure out a way to deploy your friends roll bar and have it in the up position. Self deploying roll bars are not allowed. Its a State Police rule not a track rule. We do offer race cars for rent. Race car rentals start at $600 for the day. The issue with the deploying roll bar is the police are afraid that the roll bar may malfunction and then your friend would be in trouble. Thanks for your interest and I hope to see you all at the track," so it looks as though we have to make it work.. stand by... still looking for a victim.... oh I mean a 1 vert p.s. the guys car from Queens got fixed.. 5 injectors, 1 new pump and programming..

Good news is that once deployed, easy reset.. 5 minutes... Problem is the deployment... needs to be done thru the tester at the shop and i dont know even if we were to deploy them at the shop lets say, friday night, would the top close with them up ??? and a s a side not 63% inclaniation will set them off..... along with the side air bags so that is not an option.. maybe you can search around and see if someone had deployed bars with the top closed ???? just a thought.. ps. they are spring loaded, no replacable cartridges or anything..

Hmmm...so if ^we do it my bars would be up for Saturday night, assuming I drop in to have them deployed in the evening, Sunday, and Monday morning...it's done through the OBC port or is it a lever Or something in the car?
Times like these make me wish I had a garage. I would doubt that the top could be put up. I'm assuming that the bars pop up to the height of the windshield or just below? There is only about 3 or 4 inches of clearance between the stowed bars and the back glass with the top raised |

I think I'm doing the May 4th one. Want to get out before it's too hot; it's my first summer with this car and I don't feel like finding out about overheating issues at the track.
Anyone know what the minimum ratings for helmets are at Englishtown and area tracks? Like, helmetcity has Snell M2005 helmets for drastically reduced prices. If I cheap out and get the older rating am I screwing myself down the line when tracks stop greenlighting the older ratings? |

^tracks don't allow motorcycle helmets.
You'll need an SA2005 or an SA2010. Just be warned SA2005s are only legal for another 4 years while SA2010s are good for 9 |
