8 BMWNA-owned 1M Coupes to hit the market (some pics)
According to this thread, specifically post #21:
"That's exactly what we were told: those 8 1Ms (4 white, 4 orange, the ones I saw had 5–10k miles) will be unloaded on the used market (somewhere...) within the next few months after they replace them imminently with M6s. Glad they didn't swap them out sooner — the M6 would have been far too big for that fun little autocross track." http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758073 So for those looking, stay on high alert (not sure how they will be placed, my guess it would be through Manheim or similar, which is not open to public)

+1.
No 1M @ Performance School = 0 interest in attending for me. I don't want to drive the M6 landbarges.

Someday in the future I might get a 1M. I'll be on the lookout for these, not because I want one but I'd like to stay away from them as much as possible. (1 track day with 2 confirmed yack incidents...) I can't imagine what these cars go through in a year.

Pretty hard, chances are, a lot of people on this board alone have pounded on them while doing PCD (Performance Center Delivery).
So yeah, these specimens have been around the block and then some Yes, 1Ms are being replaced with... M6s

My wife drove VO one pretty hard, and she does not drive MT daily
These cars did get a bit of abuse for sure, but that was fun time, instructors told us to treat these as "Drive it as you stole it!" and "It's not your car!" |

Yeah... I'll be staying away from these. Abused a bit much for my taste.
Hopefully, it's obvious from the CarFax/AutoCheck reports that these cars originated from that program. |

It won't be obvious from carfax. Selling these cars as demos or as low-mileage used is common practice.
After doing a driving school w/ Miatas - and after asking about what happens to these brand new cars - I was told, that whenever I'm tempted to buy a 'demo' or low mileage new car from a dealer, to always look at the doors for where the big square school decals sit for a year or two. Buyer beware. Perhaps ask yourself - would you rather buy a driving school car, or a fixed salvage titled car? |

On my last run I came into the braking zone around 60 mph. I accidentally didn't level off at 50 like I was supposed to. Donnie Isley was a fantastic instructor and I was really trying hard to do exactly what he said. My dad just laughed at me. I felt pretty dumb, but you can tell from the tire tracks I wasn't the only person to go off there! What an amazing day. As fun as it was to be in the driver's seat, I think my favorite part might have been riding along while my dad drove the 1M on the track. He was having the time of his life and seeing him having so much fun was something I'll never forget. He still talks about it all the time. |

These cars get THRASHED. Then they auction them off to the dealers who sell them as "BMW executive cars" or similar.

Next time someone takes the ///M driving school, they should right the VINs down. Though it doesn't look like these cars will be there for long...

I can tell you that we beat the snot out of these cars. My brother and I were in the White one with the ///M stripes and the clutch was already more than halfway gone.
Assume that they have all gone off track at some point because 2 of them did during my PCD (No, I didn't ) Oh yeah, also assume that some of the people driving this are either completely new to or rusty with a manual. We had a couple of people who had never handled a manual before in our group (and yes, they drove the cars). All that said, I assume that BMWNA will offer a 6yr/100k warranty with these (standard CPO warranty I believe). As long as you get the car looked at fix anything that's broken, it should be a great buy!
