I know we're getting off topic here, but personally I think the 135i would've looked nice if it came from the factory with dual exhaust like the E9x 335i. Also, would've distinguished itself more from the 128i, like the 335i and the 328i.

Maybe if the tips were closer than then example above. Otherwise, quad (BMW would never do it, M territory for w/e reason). So, ultimately glad they kept it simple.

The 2 series does it and it looks okay. Pretty similar in size. I think it would've looked fine on the 1 series as well.

I'm just glad they didn't do something truly hideous.

Here is my opinion regarding quad setup's on non M BMW's.

In a way, sure it's kind of being a "poser" but then again, do M's really benefit from a quad setup? Yes and no...Look at Mercedes AMG, Lexus F-Sport, Audi RS line. They all have quad's and the majority of them aren't even functional. Non car enthusiasts look at quad setups and go "WOW! That car must be fast" (my friends have said that in the past).

It's your car, do whatever you want to it! I added a quad setup on mine and I absolutely love the look and sound. Sure it adds weight but 10 extra pounds isn't hurting anything.

Personally OP, I say go with a custom setup. That way, you can fit whatever tips, piping size you wish for. Plus, it'll be cheaper in the long run. Hope this helps!

Here is a picture of my setup :

Specs :

-2.5 inch stainless steel mandrel bend piping.
-X2 Vibrant resonators

Clever. Does it bend to the drivers side and go up the midpipe tunnel after the LCAs?

Gangplank Here's the story on that red car. Super cool actually, if not something I find particularly pretty as a whole. Definitely has style.http://justsomething.co/old-junk-car/

It has a custom X-Pipe midpipe. The 2 pipes connect to one side of the catless downpipe exit.

Personally, I've had a Y-Pipe and X-Pipe and the sound difference is quite remarkably different. I recommend an X-Pipe over the Y-Pipe as it sounds a tad bit exotic in higher RPMs.

Hillstrand, how much did it cost for you to get this done? If you don't mind.

I've found a muffler shop fairly close to me named MufflerMan in Daytona Beach.
Good reviews.

As far as specs.. I don't know much about exhausts. I'm doing this purely for the look, as I said I'm a sucker for it. I just want a simple quad, with 3.5inch chrome/polished straight tips. I don't care for it to be super loud or anything, just a little more aggressive than the stock.

I will also be installing the 1M style back bumper, because to me the stock bumper just wouldn't feel right with a quad, and as I already have the 1M front bumper, the match will be nice.

After this ext mod comes a SleK carbon CSL style trunk, which I will paint to match the body color. Thinking on doing a fade at the very end to show off the carbon and add a nice "spoiler" like contrast.. though I don't know how difficult that could be to pull off. And that will be the end of my ext. mods.. maybe a nice set of OEM 313s or 359s.

ChillFill,

It cost me a little over $850 including tips, fabrication, piping, resonators and installation. If you are planning on going custom, get 2.5 inch piping with mandrel bend. Our cars don't require 3 inch+ piping as it will cause back pressure lose.

Here is a good video regarding exhaust systems :

Huh, so the 1M look rear bumper doesn't look weird. That's really interesting. Did the RevoZport diffuser fit without modification?

The RevoZport will fit directly onto the 1M rep. bumper but it requires a bit of elbow grease.

Nice! What size tips are you using? They look like 4s, I'm thinking of going with 3.5s
