Tempted to switch to '13 Ford Mustang GT

Hi guys. Have been owning my 1 for about 8 months now but found a good deal on 2013 Ford mustang GT coupe. Should I pull the trigger or what? Try to think really hard since my 135i DCT equipped is so fun to drive, especially knowing that the car is not a lot in my area.

The mustang GT itself has recaro bucket seats and brembo pack. Any of you had experience with Mustang GT? The Mustang also has auto trans that many said is clunky compared to BMW auto trans. It has more or less the same mpg with 135i dct but offer better torque and power at higher rpm. It does weigh more than 135i but if it's the time to try other car, I'm ready for it.

What should I consider for this Mustang GT? I know it's not as agile as 135i but the one that I'm looking for has brembo pack with tuned suspension. Need input guys, kind of confuse here and would appreciate any suggestion and recommendation.

Thanks guys

I'd only switch it for a Boss 302.

Little do you know your "BMW" brakes are actually really Brembo brakes. Take off the wheel and look at the rotor and you'll see!

I do know that our 135i is equipped with brembo brakes, I just want to point out some points that eliminate the minus point from Mustang GT. It has no telescopic steering wheel and it quite bothers me.

Probably I have to drive one first and decide which one I like the most. By changing to Ford, I have to sacrifice the free maintenance from BMW and it becomes another negative point.

I'm not really consider a stick as a choice, that's why I choose the GT. Stick is so much fun but living in Davis is not really helpful if I have to commute to other city like Sacramento where during rush hour the traffic is so hectic.

I really like how it looks and how it performs. What do you think?

Isent this like the 2nd or 3rd time you've thought about wanting to trade your car sense you've had it. Either I'd say your not truly happy with your 1er so you keep looking for the next best thing or you're a car whore like I used to be when I was young and dumb.

That being said the new GTs and fords have come a long way from what they were. It wouldn't be a bad change. It all depends on you man. We can only give opinion. My opinion is the mustang may have more power but is heavier and won't handle near as well so I'd keep the 1. They are sharp cars though and are equipped quite nicely these days.

Totally agree sir! I'm still too young to keep my eyes away from cars, always wanting different cars at the same time. Probably end up with nothing since my 135i will depreciate a lot if I decide to sell it. One thing never change since I was in primary school though, owning an M3, lol

Have you driven one?
#6, you say you have to drive one.
(20 minutes later)
#8, you say you like how it performs.

The Mustang is a nice car, but I wouldn't come to a BMW site for inspiration in purchasing one.

Good luck with your decision.

People in here are nice though, even though they own bimmer they still give me thoughts and opinions or call it neutral in giving comments. Pardon my mistake sir, I never try it before, but I like the performance of Mustang GT just based on its specs, never know how I feel until I try it next week.

Thanks for your thought tho! Like I said before, I'm too young to stay with one car, probably have to stop looking until I can afford M3, lol

I never really considered the Mustang when I bought my 135 convertible despite the decent reviews it got.
Honestly I'm not 17 years old anymore and really can't imagine driving that thing around every day.

Go take a test drive and think about the things you like the most about your bimmer - does it do those well enough to satisfy? Next, think about what you dislike about your bimmer - does it do those better?

If the answer to both is yes, it might be time to switch it up.

I would wait. The new Mustang is coming out soon and dealers will be giving a lot of incentives to get rid of the old body style. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/20...ion-58186.html

If you have never seen how Jeremy Clarkson rates the Shelby Mustang after a 800 mile trip its quite interesting. The whole episode is good but if you want to see just what he has to say it is on segment 6 and the beginning of 7. http://www.tflcar.com/2013/02/video-...across-europe/

Keep your 135i....It's the better car all around especially if you are going with a automatic trans. I have driven the 5.0, the Boss302, and the Shelby GT, and the Rousch 427....And the only thing that is nicer about the Mustang is the linearity of the engine( i love N/A cars for there smoothness) (Like the 8cyl M3) and the exhaust note which is like the M3 up high in the RPM's..Honestly the Boss 302 was my favorite among all of the Stangs and almost bought one myself except the booy racer stripes on thise things are hideous and ugly. If they made the boss 302 without the stripes that would be the car if you wanted a Stang. The steering is also quick but not as nice as the Hydrolic 1 series...

I'd keep the 135 and enjoy the hell out of it for another 1 1/2 years. Then consider the new 2015 Mustang with next generation styleing and best of all, independent rear suspension. Everything I've read has said redesigned Mustang is coming out as a 2015 model. The 2014 just minor updates from 2013
