VO 1M in The Gambler film

So curious why they picked such a specialized car in an odd movie color....rather than something more mainstream? Did they ever tell you why they selected a 1M in the first place and why orange versus a black car?

I don't know the answer. The company that owned it said that Paramount Pictures really wanted that car. I haven't seen the film yet but in the trailer the car is always shown at night. Maybe they felt that Orange would show up better at night. By the way, how do you know that your car is #739? Also, my car has an orange ring around the start button that says 1 of 740 Mortorsport BMW 1 M coupe. All others I've seen has a Silver ring with nothing written. Do you know the answer?

there is a scene in the film where it's pulling up the driveway in the daytime as well....am also really curious as to the backstory of why they wanted the 1M specifically.

that orange ring was sold here on 1addicts if I'm not mistaken. It didn't come with the car. You can find out the # of your car by going through the registry and locating it by VIN

Not unlikely that it is also related to portray the rather exuberant role of the main character in the movie (insofar we understand the plot correctly on the basis of the trailer).

Those orange start/stop buttons sprung from the mind and hands of forum fellow @Mr.Metak2you. So a previous owner of your car must have been active on this forum or know someone alike. If the forthcoming movie "The Gambler" shows Metak's ring, then be sure that he'll be proud of that achievement too.

hey so quick question....BMW NA wasn't involved with this right? it's not a product placement like other carmakers do....by what you're saying the film company got the car on their own?

This is awesome! Congrats on having the actual movie car! That is very cool. Wahlberg is a car guy so you can probably assume he actually really did drive the car in the filming! I hope the movie is good!

Also, if you bought it from the production company it would stand to reason that the orange start ring is in the film too? Sweet!!

Yes, you are right. BMW had nothing to do with it. Paramount saw the car listed for sale and went to the seller and leased it from them. $15,000 for 3 months. Only put 6 miles on it.

I don't know about a must see, because he was pretty damn terrible in the last Transformers. But my goodness a VO 1M looks so good rolling at night. This might be more of a wait until it comes out on DVD for me.
