There are of course exceptions but generally speaking, no I don't skip 5th or any other gear.

I do it also depending on the traffic. IF it's light then I go from 4 - 6

I do it too, never used to skip gears in a 5 speed, but in the 6 speed it seems necessary

I was once a 4-6'er and have posted many times on that, but I have recently become a 5th advocate.

I have started using 5th gear in moderate freeway traffic. 6th gear is best for cuising and 4th is good for spirited passing. 5th is a great compromise for 60-70 mph, variable traffic.

Go 5th!

Tally Ho! I'm finally getting a 6 speed manual and certainly plan on using ALL 6. It docks in a couple days - which is good. My garage is getting full of all the extra pieces to put on.

Yup, your 5th gear will refuse to work for you anymore due to it being ignored. It will demand that you start the car in 5th and shut off the car in 5th. Your life will become a living mechanical hell.

I doubt it. Unless you suck at shifting quickly enough.

I think it's better than the E90, but I still wouldn't buy it. My next car will be the E85 M coupe.

I doubt I'll have enough money for the Cayman S to my specifications.
