Buzzing / Rumbling....... Tyres???
Had a problem with my 120D for the last few 1000m where there is a buzzing or rumbling noise coming from the front - similar to a quiet worn wheel bearing. The car only has 19k on the clock and drives fine, no pulling, veering to the side or pulling on the brakes etc.
Just been to the dealer and they reckon the tyres are to blame which are worn on both inner and outer edges and have some "shark toothing" present. I know from previous experience shark toothing can buzz like hell and what they say seems to make sense. Before I go and spend a fortune on some new front tyres has anyone else had this problem???? The wheels and tyres are the BMW Performance Diamond cut ones with Dunlop SP01's. Cheers. |

Hi, I bought a 118d m sport and the dealer fitted primewell ditch finders to the front. They hum like mad and the uniform tread block size is mostly the issue. If you check out most premium brands the tread block sizes vary round the circumference of the tyre to prevent it. Might be worth changing. Incidentally if you haven't done so already I would highly recommend ditching the run flats. Did this on my wife's r56 and my old e91. 118 is run flat free too and they ride much better and feel much more progressive when cracking on through bends. Oh yeah and they cost a stack less too. Cheers Paul
