A couple of quick JB3 questions

Just installed it last weekend, and I am thrilled. Right now running on Map 3, but about to switch to Map 5 as I run Oct 93 only anyhow. A few quick questions:

1. If I were to switch to Map 0 (stock) in the few occasions I have a designated driver, how long does it take the ECU to adopt once I switch it back to Map 3/5? Is it instantaneous, or does it take a few days and driving cycles? I noticed the car got better after the 2nd day with the JB3, so wonder if this is just the initial adaptation, or it needs to go through this every time you switch between stock and a higher map?

2. Do you guys take it out when going for routine visits to the dealer, say for an oil change?

Thx

I think it has to go through the adaptation again when you change maps, but I could be wrong about that. I've only changed mine twice, and it felt like it was adapting afterwards.

I leave mine in for normal service. If there's any reason for them to plug into the ECU to diagnose something I'd pull it out though. It manipulates certain signals that might throw them off on their diagnosis, or allow them to blame the tune for problems you're having.

Anytime you change maps, it requires a full adaption. HOWEVER adaption when changing from say map 4 to map 5 is much quicker than the adaption when changing from say map 0 to map 5.

I have been taking out my JB3 for all dealer visits but since they dont scan the ecu during a regular oil change, i may in the future choose map 0 for a oil change.

Going back to map 0 it will only build stock boost levels. I have done it many times and it is pretty instant. Now going back to map 3 or 5 will take a little adaptation again. Also I recently had my car in for another HPFP replacement and they are escalated to PUMA now. They must ok it before replacement. Best thing to do is remove it before going in. Having the BT is also a must unless you have an auto parts store that can read it and clear codes for you. around here Kragen and Autozone no longer do it for free and in some cases not at all they told me.
