Lightbulb Possible failure of the BOV

I was driving along regularly in the highway when I noticed a strange "bogging" like sound from the engine as if its choked when I try to press on the throttle. More over, I noticed the BOV wasnt functioning like usual and it would either release some pressure with light "psshh" or no sound at all although I do feel the turbo spool as they normally would.

There are no warning lights and the car functions normally .. I feared it might be from the feul pump but I dont really think its from that.

Whats strange is that during the drive it sometime acts normally with normal BOV functioning fine and WOT also without any issue.

Can this be a possible failure with the BOV unit itself ? its been fitted for over 2 years now ( TIAL unit) .

The bogging could be fuel pump issues, I had something similar and it turned out to be the HPFP on its way out. Any issues starting like long cranks etc? High ambient temp and altitude could also cause the car to reduce power.

The way the TiAL BOV is designed, if there is a failure it'd usually prevent it from opening, not vent boost under load. Plus significant over or under boost would cause CEL or limp mode.

Hmm. That got me worried now.. will have to check the feul pump I suppose..

No starting issues nor is it driven in high altitude/high ambient temp ..

Thanks for your input @Snertz

@Dackelone : As I said no fault codes or warning lights ..

Took it to the local BMW dealer to check it ... I fear it might be HPFP issue.

UPDATE 17-12-14

Dealer did tests on the feul pump .. no issues found .. turbo's tested as well no issues found ..

I took it back home .. it drives normally as expected ..except that slight bogging sound and irregularity of the BOV itself as it doesnt release the pressure sometimes.. I think i might order a new differant BOV unit.
