Fill up with accessories on
Is it ok to fill up the tank with accessories on? Will it trigger any of the sensors?

If the engine isn't running, the HVAC system is no longer treating the air and after a few minutes, the air blowing through the vents will be the same as what is outside.

You literally could not pay me to pump gas into a running car. I know it's not 1955 anymore and that fuel systems are quite advanced, but it just doesn't sit well with me to be pumping gas from a massive tank into a car with a firing ignition.

Is it dangerous to pump gas into a running car? Let's ask this guy...

I always turn it off as a habit. Just in case a madman tries to start my car while the key is in?

I do it all the time, chances of a fire are pretty much zero unless you're really dumb and lighting up a cigarette or something.

Apart from the general safety concerns, your fuel tank pressurizes under normal operation... So there are a few concerns... For example your engine could throw EVAP codes since it can't pressurize the tank.
In addition, the entire electrical system is active, rather than just dormant systems like the clock memory... Its unlikely but if you have a frayed wire that happens to short out in the presence of vapors...

There is nothing more dangerous about a running car being fueled up than a non running car. Chassis ground is always there no matter what. Static is the real danger and it is rare that a car lights up because of it. As far as being good for the car, probably not in the sense that if the fueling takes long enough it might throw a code due to not being able to pull vaccum on the tank. I don't know how the car in the video caught fire but I doubt it was because of the running engine. Maybe the fuel was overflowing and flowed onto the brakes or something?
