Just made my 135i to become 135is...

Long time lurker, I finally took the plunge and got myself a CPO 2010 black 135i a month ago. Yesterday, I got my car back after installing PPK version 2 and BMW performance exhaust. The exhaust sounds amazing, not too loud, but yet strong bass tone, just fits my need. Also, after PPK installed, it runs so much smoother and quicker.

Congrats! I wonder, do BMW dealerships negotiate on those upgrades, or is it basically list price?

They do negotiate, I got 15% off on all parts and labor. Also, check shopbmwusa.com for installed price. What I saw was when they quote me on the exhaust install, they charge more than the website price, so they honored the website price, plust 15%.

You gonna put the 313s on and black out the mirrors, too and go "all the way?"

Interesting, thanks! I notice as of right now, 2013 135i model is not listed as compatible with the PE, whereas 2012 135i and 2013 128i are. Strange.

Also, what does one do with the stock exhaust? I wonder if a dealership would take it for an additional discount.

I would love to have the 313 rims, but would only buy if some 135is owner wants to sell, it is too expensive to get that set from BMW.

135is doesn't come with performance suspension, so I already have the sport suspension.

As for big brakes, all 135i comes with big brakes.

I already bought the drilled rotors for front and back, will put it on next week.

Sometimes people on here sell their 313s, shockingly, but that's how Nemco got his I reckon. I also think you might be able to get a deal on them perhaps if you really wanted them as a few dealers are on here selling OEM parts at a discount like Dan @ United and ReevesBMW.

As for the PPK though, sounds like you notice quite a difference? They put a sticker or something on the inside of your hood, too?

Oh, and Nemco - some people sell their OEM exhaust on here as well. Just saw someone post theirs today. Don't know, but y'all are making me want my darn "is" already!

Unless you really like the aesthetics of the 313s, I think you are better off from a performance perspective of getting some slightly wider and lighter wheels.

Garage List
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your car.
Your 135i also has an N54 where the 135is has an n55. Post some pics of your car.

So the price on that website is the installed price? hmmmmmm....

BMW Performance Exhaust just got a lot more tempting. I just wish I could hear it in person to see if it is that much different than mine already.

No, there is two price, by default that's the one that shows up, then you can select a dealer, and you will see the installed price as well.

It's not cheaper, it is dealer work, but I wanted to keep my CPO warranty intact.

Krop - there are a bunch of videos on youtube you can listen to to compare a stock N54 start up and engine rev and then can listen to one with performance exhaust installed. I know one person did one, let me find it.

earthconfed can then perhaps confirm that that's what his sounded like before/after, though the PPK2 may make his sound a hair different.

Well yeah, I've heard them online, its just not the same as hearing it in person. I didn't even realize how loud mine was until I let my uncle drive it and could hear it from the outside as he pulled off and then as he came back. Sounded really good so it will be tough to justify upgrading, unless it really is as good as everyone makes it sound.

Or go test drive a 135is if you can find one since that'll have it installed on there already, though of course that will be an N55. I give up. =P

Actually, that's what I did before going through the install. They sounds almost the same.

Alright, done hijacking the thread. earth - congrats, sounds great and your review/enjoyment of the PPK2 + performance exhaust gives me peace of mind that I did the right thing opting for the "is" model.

That's funny earth - you go to...crap blanking on the dealer up in the bay area that has like 6 135is models, many in stick, too.

You mean the n54 and n55 sound almost the same? Can't imagine why you would end up going for the exhaust upgrade if they sound almost the same...

So the "is" comes with the PE? I know it has the PKK standard.
I have PPK1 & SSK on mine. Congrats you'll love your 135i.

The BMW website says the PE does add a little power. +5 hp +3TQ.

I would not want a loud exhaust either but it does not sound much louder just different and better. The PE was over $1,000 on the site I saw.

The "is" comes with the PPK 2 (so also the auxiliary radiator and upgraded cooling system) + Performance Exhaust, and those are the only mechanical differences from a 135i with the m sport package.

The "is" then has a bunch of small, somewhat subtle visual differences - black mirrors, blacked out grille slats, stainless steel pedals, and most importantly, the beloved 313 style rims. Basically it just raids every BMW Performance and accessory aftermarket parts it seems and throws them all on the "is" for a discounted combined price.

When I bought my lightly used (4k miles, never driven in rain) '09 135i two years ago, the original owner listed it as "the 135is BMW never made":

6MT M-sport
BMW Performance Power Kit v2
BMW Performance Exhaust
BMW Performance Short Shifter
BMW Performance Electronic Steering Wheel
BMW Performance Suspension
BMW Performance Side Skirts
BMW Performance Black Kidney Grills
New high performance summer tires (non run flats)

I added the BMW stainless steel pedals (which came stock on the 335is and now 135is), LCI tail lights, euro wide angle side mirrors, knockoff CF rear diffuser, side/rear sunshades and a P3 v2 boost gauge and called it a day.

Those 313s are nice though...
