Line Lock???
Was not sure where to post this so, posted it here. I had run flats in the past and just a few weeks ago I move to new wheels and tires (non-Runshits). I know some will po po the idea of me doing this but, I enjoy it (had many cars and some with 600hp and did it all the time). When I had the RFT, burn outs were no problem for the most part (pic attached from a day messing around on my driveway). Now with these new tires, they have way more grip then the RFT by far. And this is a good thing however, I do like screwing around doing burnouts and crap like that. For the life of me I can't get more then a 3 ft burnout before the engine bogs which I'm sure is the TQ control. Yes, I do hold in the DTC until both systems are off with the slip circle as well.
Here's what I don't get. I know the stick guys have no problems with this, this may be do to no tq control or something to do with that being a stick. I have tried many things, M1 position, S1 position, feathering and no luck. Now i know part of this has to do with better gripping tires and the TQ control that can not be disabled from what I understand. So, from what I have read the system see's you have your foot on the brake pedal and this is what causes TQ control to kick in (not sure, that's what I read) and that the only way is to install line locks so the ECU does not see your foot applying the brake. So I ordered a line lock kit from ECS tuning. American cars don't seem to have this problem, my friend has an 09 Challenger and no issue. It can't be a power problem as I have 380 HP at the wheels and 415 ft tq. Am I wasting my time because of all the management stuff that BMW has in an Auto? Pic when I had RFT's

I've been battling the same issue, but I'm 6MT. It pisses me off so much!
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30034 Please let me know what you end up doing. I'm having burnout withdrawals.

I'd love a DIY guide on the install.

Probably 1% of the entire group would ever need, or want a line lock. It's not surprising. It's a BMW, not a chevy.
And the reason youre having issues with doing burnouts, you can't completely disable the DSC or the E-diff. It's always interfering, even if you have a true LSD.

Another thing, an E-Diff first of all is a POS and when you do switch over to a real diff (which I have) that does not come into play anymore. The E-Diff only engaged when both wheels were not spinning at the same rate. Just because its not a chevy as you say, does not mean it can't be done or that anyone does not do it. Because they do.

My line lock kit came in today Going to do the install tomorrow! I was on the phone with Ken from Wedge Performance and this is a common problem with many BMW Auto's. He said this kit should do the trick because there is a system in an Auto car that has something to do with brake probability (I think that's what he called it) when you have your foot on the brake at all. Sticks don't have this problem as they don't have a control unit in them like an auto does.
So, we will see.

Ok first impression.... For the money this cost, it should come with instructions! It's straightforward for the most part however, there is no clear way of determining which way the hose fitting install. Now for the money, they should send you instructions and pictures. All I got was parts in a box. Now that's BS. I don't like guess work.

I sent them an email. I did a search and it seems this is not the first time this has happen to someone.

Not yet, The shorted me the brake line adapter in the kit. So, I'm waiting for them to send me the fittings. I spoke to AR Design Friday and they said they were going to get on it and send them out. I have not heard anything from them yet. I did speak with Wedge performance and he said the Auto's have some controls (brake probability or something like that) which a stick does not have. He also said the line lock will fix the problem so, we will see.

I'm not happy with ECS tuning or with AR Design. I called both of them on Friday at 10am. Called ECS tuning again today, got the same answer as I did Friday "we will get back to you". No word at all from AR design. Now, when you spend close to $400 for a kit like this, you expect to get some good customer service when parts are missing. So, I have asked for a return label, I should not be making repeat calls to a supplier and distributer to get parts that should have been there in the first place.

Yeah, I get the same thing, can't powerbrake at all. I get the wheels spinning and then the ediff cuts it off before the fun begins. Was reading another thread on this where someone was able to get Alpina to code it off? That would be cheaper!

Not sure why you would say that, just trying to understand my car and why its hardwired to restrict wheelspin. This is my first BMW, should be able to spins some tires for fun, can't, read forums, find answers, post some replies hoping to learn more. I get out quite a bit...
