Replacement airbags are arriving

Dealer called me today to schedule appointment. Apparently parts are rolling in.

Good to hear I saw on the news that Takata has tripled its production line in order to built replacements fast. I had my doubts but i guess its true.

That's pretty quick. My dealer told me back in Feb. that they probably wouldn't have the parts till fall. Nice to hear it's happening sooner.

That's good, surprising news.

The local news reported today that the airbag replacements could go on until 2019.

Will go on... They are installing the exact same airbag as a replacement. Takata hasn't updated them, so the replacements still have the same 6 year time frame from exposure to heat & moisture. The expectation is that by the 12 year mark most people won't own the same car.

I don't see how they can replace a potentially life threatening part with another. Mine is less than 3 years old.

I'm more excited about getting a loaner to drive for once lol. Best bet it'll be free of charge too.

Amazing right? Apparently it's not all but some that will need re-replacement, and it's hard to know which you might be getting.

I never got a letter from BMW. My car is a MY 2011, 2010 September build.

Would I not be affected for any reason?

Your car is affected if you are in the US, run the VIN to verify.
