For those who thought/think (we all do) the M3 is overpriced in Australia, check this new limited edition model:

The M3 is in a very interesting position at the moment, I mean on one hand I walk into a BM showroom yesterday and have a look at a frozen grey coupe with all the goodies, DCT Audio etc and it is.... wait for it $205,000 OTR next to it is a sedan loaded... SAME PRICE. all of a sudden you have cars at one end in the $150k OTR price and others >$50k up the ladder.. WTF. Anyway, I can't wait to see the 1M in fully naked (minus full body suit) and what the price is going to be... |

Normally when a manufacturer takes equipment out of a car they charge more for it! Think Porsche RS etc

It is interesting.
I have been trying to convince myself that spending $100K plus on a secondhand M5 is ok, but a new M3 at low $100K could be interesting. Something further to think about I guess. |

If I was on the market for an M3 I would seriously consider this though. I think BMW has in a way shot itself in the foot with the introduction of the M1. Regardless, I'm glad BMW are making cars that we all want. My feeling is that used M3 prices will drop when the M1 comes out so I'd just wait if you want an M3

What are you waiting for Mr Brien? Get one! This bodes well for a 1M. I wouldn't mind a stripped out 1M, but for my M3 I prefer to stick to a high spec one. To me M3 is more tourer like so the high spec suits it, whereas the 1M is pure. 1M Pure Edition makes more sense to me than M3 Pure edition.

It'll be too slow for you Way, your old car was way more powerful than the 1M is going to be. It will need a lot of modding to get it to M3 level. BMW will be sure of that. Don't worry about my transportation mate, i'm going to move my M3 E46 SC this year/next year and get set for an M3 next year hopefully and then SC that so should be good for 600 or so. Think i'll keep the 135i though, time will tell.

Well Mr Brien, Wayne W said to me that he is probably ready to let the blue car go next year and he will focus on more collectible stuff like his Turbo S, 993 RS and Sport Classic. You can pick that one up! You are building it up anyway.
As for 1M, you are absolutely correct that it will be slower than my 135i. However I am not too fussed for a track car anymore but I wouldn't mind another small, quick BMW that I can use with back seats. I bought a new GT3 (Clubsport version) yesterday so that will cover my track needs for many years to come. It even comes with from the factory with cage, semi slicks and 2kg extinguisher so I just have to turn up to the track haha. The 135i, fast as it was, was never engineered to be a track whore so I am better off with a Porsche that was designed and built for that purpose. Will be keeping this one for awhile. |

Yes i Know, i'll probably have his car that long anyway the list that is being generated for mods
Keep an eye on my gallery page for images and You tube Yes a 135i is never a track car no matter how hard people tell me it is. Really i can't see the 1M being that much better either, i cannot see BMW would make it superior to an M3 |
