My dealer investigated once I told them of the situation and provided the info in my post. It sounded like they were reading the info from a bulletin they received.

Thanks Mac for the new info, hopefully they can repair the trouble quick and get underway. A two week delay is a small price to pay but I swear the wait is slowly killing me.

and for those of us that are really hooked, our Bill of Lading number is DE736939. There are 890 Bimmers on that Bill and ONLY 8 of them are 1er's. Our luck. I'm checking into re-hab this weekend.

How did you find out that there were only 8 1ers on that boat? Since I think there are 4 1addict 1er's on this boat, I also did a search on SIWB and Elektra in google and found that there are some M3's on the boat as well.

Macbmw is correct, the Elektra was having prop shaft trouble and turned back. It is currently scheduled to undergo drydocking and refitting of new propshaft / prop to correct the problems. WWL will be or has already offloaded the cargo and will assign to new vessels.
For what it is worth, vessel capacity on the North Atlantic trade routes is EXTREMELY tight right now. Translanted, there is much more cargo than available vessel space right now. WWL has their hands full trying to accomodate the cargo of all shippers. My company is one of their large customers and I can attest that space is at a premium. Mark M |

Hey Mark, could you give us any information regarding to which boat we'd be assigned to or any extra info? How did you find out about the prop shaft trouble?

Phaze, unfortunately I can't tell you what vessel WWL will reassign the BMW cargo to. Most likely it will be spread out amoung several current vessels in this trade lane. I can say that for now, WWL is not going to replace the Elektra with a new vessel in their regular rotation. They simply don't have any other vessels in their global fleet with available capacity to allocate to the North American trade lanes. So the NA trade lane will be down 1 vessel till the rework on Elektra is complete.
My source for this detail comes from working in logistics with one of WWL's top customers. Think large farm / construction machinery manufacturer. In our Case, the weak dollar has lead to a dramatic increase in US exports of our equipment. Meaning we are shipping a lot more machines to Europe, Russia, Etc. than we ever have in prior years. |

Does anyone know how long it would take a train from Halifax take to get to Vancouver? Reo, how did you get the info for Mignon? Any way to track the ship?

I just did some searching and looked at tracking by ports, then looked at the origin port at Belgium and destination port in Canada. There was one cargo ship that transports cars and it was the mignon. Its going directly to the east coast and is estimated to arrive on the 10th, so it fits with macs info. Its all speculation though

There's alot of cargo to get spread around. Like I mentioned earlier, 860 BMW's are listed on the Bill of Lading (think packing slip) for that Elektra shipment. FYI...on the WWL site you can look up the Bill and see inventory assigned to it by VIN. You can see all VIN's listed on shipment (including yours), the prefix WBAUC7 are one'rs and I counted only eight.
