I have one question. I am currently on a prepaid program for the 2012 135i coupe in the U.S. Is this car gonna lose its I6 with Turbo in place of an I4 with Turbo?? If so How will the pricing change or will power outputs decrease due to the loss of 2 cylinders??

I would be shocked if the HP numbers on the 135i went down a single horse, what with the competition plastering their HP numbers all over their ads. More realistically, I'd say they'll probably add a four cylinder diesel to the bottom of the line for the economy minded, but keep the top of the lineup at 300+. P.S.: What's a "prepaid" program for a car purchase look like? Is it lay-away? |

To Scott not Battleship Pokemon! Its a military program that places money towards the purchase of a not yet released vehicle. The money incurs interest and allows for a lower cost of the vehicle since the buyer (me) is military. I was also hoping you would have some sort of working knowledge of what BMW might be planning since you have been around many of their testbed vehicles.

Yes, the money is essentially a savings account owned by BMW Military Car sales in Japan, and incurs an amazing 3% APR. Once the model is released and you decide on the specifics the money is immediately placed ttowards the car. You can say you want a 1 at first and possibly change your mind down the road. The reason I opted for this is because I would be leaving japan too late to get a 2011, so this seemed more feasible. Now with the 1M coming I migh opt for it, if it stickers under 50K. Garuantee that Mil sales will lob 5-8K off MSRP. Case in point 58K for M3 Coupe stateside goes for 50K using Mil sales.

Marcus is correct. I had originally placed an order for a 335i. Then the 1 series came out so I changed my order. I basically had a down payment on a 135i Since September 07 and took delivery June 08. It also reserved my spot for the car. As the military sales cares get put behind the initial run of dealer/customer cars.
