Door lock actuator chronicles (help?)

Good evening 1ers,

Two weeks ago my car made a funky noise when I pressed the lock button on my fob and I immediately knew that it was going to be the door lock actuator as I've owned my fair share of crayon smelling BMWs.

Three days ago the actuator actually went out to no surprise to me and since I'm going to be leaving on a work trip to FL I decided to put the actuator job on hold til I came back in three weeks but my 135i decided to let me know it was not going to wait that long… the door is stuck shut now and nothing short of a miracle will open it lol

Has anyone dealt with getting the door open when the actuator goes out? I have tried the inside handle I have tried locking/unlocking countless times and I cannot get it to open

I just want to fix the damn thing so I don't have to go through the passenger door and embarrass myself in public

Any fixes or links to old threads?

TIA

Hold the unlock button on the key for a few seconds, after a bit the windows will go down and after a bit more the sunroof will open too. Just unlock using the inside handle and you're good to go.

OP said he tried the inside handle, I'm assuming meaning that didn't work either. Which is weird. The mechanical release I would think should still work.

Depending on the settings: 1) you have to pull the handle from the inside handle 2 times to unlock 2) you have to pull once

dtla1 , lemansblau135is when my actuator failed the interior door handle would not unlock car with double pull.

You can test yourself if you lock the car with remote instead of central locking with the window rolled down there will be no resistance on the interior handle.

Mine just happened to unlock after repeatedly hitting the unlock button on the remote.
