so the car overheated today.. code help plz

Yeah over heated bigtime all the way to the red temp indicator. according to the jb4 water temps got to 120c.

I read the codes and this is what i got;

2D2E Angle of throtle valve - intake pipe underpressure, correlation

2E82 Electrical cooling pump: switch off

2E81 Electrical cooling pump:, speed deviation

I did turn the jb4 maxcool option on so the 2E81 code could be related to that.

Can someone please tell me if my water pump is gone? Or what the issue could be.

Thanks guys.

How many kays does the car have and how old is it?

Waterpumps crap out from anywhere > 40-50k kays but more commonly around 70-80k kays

yeah dude, tow the car to advan...

They do them pretty often... I changed mine as preventative maintenance at 79k kays.

Pete also changed both rubber hoses by memory also. Not a cheap fix alas most cars require waterpumps every 100k kays even the reliable jap cars

Garage List
Easy $1500+ if you go to Advan.. the parts alone, with hoses and coolant will be close to $1000

It's the water pump. No need to change the thermostat.

Don't drive the car, make sure you get it towed there.

When my waterpump died on me I bought OEM replacements from Amazon and had it installed at a workshop. Might be worth looking into to explore your options, the AUD was a longer stronger back then though..

79k miles or km? My 125i is at 82k kms now, thinking of changing soon as preventative too.

Am I treading on thin ice if I plan to change sometime June? Probably would be 86k kms then. gosh...it's like driving a time bomb.

kays = km's.

TBH I'm unsure if the 125i uses the same type of electric waterpump and if it's of a concern in your application? I would guess that the N54 being known to run 'hot' may be more prone to waterpump failure...

The master Waterpump thread has some cases of N52 waterpump failures too (god it even has a sticky thread...).

I'm driving it as 'tame' as possible 95% of the time (2k revs), and I don't track my car. I just don't want to change it yet until at least tax return

Hmm most guys I've heard of having there's fail is in traffic, and it seems they fail in the winter months also. If your car is on the original pump, yup sorry to say it could go at anytime

Make sure you have a towtrucks number stored in your phone just in case...
