I too am surprised to see you launch at such a high rpm. Is that with dumping the clutch or slipping? I would have thought dumping it would see nothing but wheelspin, just like you found out with the flat shifting on the Procede.

ps- You have an aftermarket FMIC too?
Richard glad to help if I can. The 5000 RPM launch is by slipping the clutch. you can't really dump the clutch with runflats, they will just spin.

The flatshift doesn't cause wheelspin but the twostep launch does because the car is seeing 6 psi at a standstill. The runflats just can't hold our N54s making 6 psi on the hit!

Yes I am running an ER intercooler, just click on the link in my sig for the full list of modifications.

Seeing as Kenny posted his best time slip for the day i thought i might as well too. My Mods and specs are:

N55
Manual Transmission
225/35 19 & 255/30 19 Yoko Advan Neova AD08
Procede
Catless DP

It was my first time on the strip. Not really a PB to be proud of but as Kenny stated, conditions weren't the best. There was also a considerable head wind blowing all day. My car was also going into limp mode in the top of 3rd or sometimes 4th gear for a lot of my runs so it was hard to get some consistency and quite annoying.

Although the Advans are a much better/stickier tyre than the standard runflats, they dont have much give/side wall flex in 255/30 19 so launches were still a challenge.

Anyway, enough with the excuses. It was heaps of fun and i cant wait to go back one night soon when the temps are a bit lower and after i've sorted out my error code issues.

Also, thanks heaps Kenny for you help on the day. When you get a chance post some footage from the 50 GoPro camera's you had mounted in your car

Well done guys. Great to see you guys going out and having a go, and then being happy to post the results even if you were hoping for better.

The fact is that conditions were pretty bad on Sunday. It got well over 30C in the middle of the day and there was a strong wind blowing from the South straight up the strip. Trap speed would have suffered by around 2-3MPH from this compared to a cold winter/spring evening at the drags where most records have been set. I believe Kenny should be up around 116-117MPH in better conditions, and with some descent tyres, we should see a high 11 ET. N55s at the drags are still pretty new to me, but a mid to high 12 would be easy with some descent tyres, and hopefully around 110-111 in better conditions.

Thanks Adrian. One of my passes was 109mph so I think a 111 and high 12's in better conditions is definitely achievable.

Great effort fly135. I think an improvement in the 60ft and better conditions will see you into the 12s

Cheers, I hope so. "My car does 12's" sounds so much better than "my car does 13's".

Well a pretty good night last night, did about 5 runs, all high 11 second passes

Have the 2 first time slips attached (which were the best of my night)

11.841 @ 117.81mph - 1.857 60 ft

Same mods, just increased meth additive, and better track temps. Pretty happy with the times fo street tyres and stock turbos!

Yes it would seem that 2 cars did 11s last night within minutes of each other. I wonder who was first!!

Thanks Adrian

Very interested to see how Justin went, drag radials should see a low to mid 11?

I was not at the drags last night, but got updates. The night had to be called short due to clutch issues, and only one pass was made... it was an 11, but not sure of full details. The car drove home fine, but the clutch was causing gear engagement issues when shifted quickly. There is definately more to come, but these manuals are more challenging for drag racing than Autos unfortuantely. For drag racing the auto is the best option. In fact the only reason to get a manual in these cars is if you enjoy the act of manually changing gears. The Autos are so good that you would only choose not to get it for the emotional link to the car through a manual shifter.

That's a huge pass Michael! Well done mate. Looks like you're the first 11 in Oz and the fastest too. Look forward to hearing what Justin was able to put down as well. Also feel better about not getting a manual after reading Adrian's comments.

Hi Adrian.

My friend was there last night in his yellow 370Z and told me exactly that.

Black 135i 6MT passed at 11.90 in first pass then had clutch issues..

I think of hand he had a 12.3 something pass.

It remains to be seen who was the first in the 11s. I am not sure what time Justins car did the pass!?!!?

Also in drag racing terminology, fastest is the highest trap speed, and quickest is the best ET. So Michael has the quickest pass (I think Justin's car did 11.9), but Justin's car is well and truly the fastest (123MPH).

I would still buy the manual myself... as I enjoy the connection via the shifter, but there is no arguing that Autos are consistently faster for most uses of the car and easier and more consistent in doing so.

Yes you're right Adrian. Looks like it could be Michael as that pass was made at 6.15pm but there's still a chance Justin made his pass before then. Justin's car is definitely a whole lot faster though as his mph is much higher. 5mph doesn't sound like much but it's easily a couple bus lengths on the quarter mile. I'm tempted to get myself a set of RB turbos now but I'd like to head back out and crack an 11 with the stock turbos first.
