Tischer (getbmwparts.com) has E82 Rear Window Shades in stock!!
Been seeing a lot of talk over the past few years about the rear window shade (part # 51460432844) being sold out/NLA across North America.
Took a chance and tried to order the part from getbmwparts.com and they notified me they ordered the part and it would ship in 2 days. That was 2 days ago, and I just got notification the part shipped from Tischer's warehouse today. Get it while you still can. |

Ask and ye shall receive. I had to see what on earth this was/looked like, too. Not sure what I think, especially if you already have tinted windows:

Full Ceramic Tint FTW. Honestly put, these look horrible, are more expensive, and have to be installed every time you stop.

These are awesome. I wouldn't compare them to tint, but they have a clean look of their own. I leave them in all the time. I got lucky and bought mine used, but would have bought new had I known they were still available a few months ago when I was dying to have them.

These are the perfect alternative to tint. They look classy, block the sunlight, can easily be seen out of, and for people who track their car they can be taken out in 2 seconds. Also don't have to worry about cops getting you for illegal tint.

I have tint, and no, you don't have to install them "every time you stop". They can be left in the rear window 100% off the time.. and the fact you think they look horrible is your own personal opinion, which means absolutely nothing to me.

Thanks for posting the link though. I should have said that in my first post.

I have them in my car and LOVE them!! I've driven with all the windows down up to 165 mph and they stay in place. I've never had to mess with them. Great product!

1. No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the rear side windows or rear window or windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce the total light transmittance of such window to less than 35 percent; The loophole is that if the police do decide to pull you over to test your tint, they can't nail you because the sunshade itself is not a "film". Virginia regulators shot themselves in the foot with this law; just like the law regarding carrying a loaded pistol in the car: lots of loopholes.. |
